what do you guys think of the vox valvetronix amps, particularly the ad50vt? im on a budget but im a tone freak and i want a good metal tone but still versatlility.

Yesterday I went out and bought a Duncan Distortion for one of my Mockingbirds. I had a Custom in there but was just curious what the Distortion would sound like. I'm very happy with. I really really liked the Custom but was wanting something a little bit more agressive. The Distortion is it. I was kind of concerned at first as I had lowered the string hiehgt and if you've never had an American BC Rich let me just tell you these things can get the strings damn near right on the fret board without any buzz. It played fantstically but there was really no room for the strings to resonate and left if sounding a bit EMG 81-ish. I was fine with that but it wasnt quite what I wanted. I raised the strings back up and gave it some room to breathe and it's just excellent. Fantastic pickup. I'm now a dedicated fan of at least 3 Duncans. So far in my guitars I've tried a Custom, a Distortion, a Jazz, a JB and a '59. I'm not much of a fan of the JB or the '59 but I have always loved the Jazz and the Custom blew me away when I got my first american Mockingbird. Now that I have a distortion in the new Mockingbird I'm totally stoked.

I tried a Carl Martin Plexitone after reading great stuff about it but it's got this weird rumble and overtones that are nothing like a plexi. It sounds horrible through the amps I wanted to use it on.

My cell phone got put through the washer and dryer last night and lost the fight. Maybe someone has a phone laying around they are not using anymore that I could buy off of them. It has to be a U.S. Cellular phone and I'd like it to be a newer model, not of of those huge old Nokias. Thanks.

Well, I'm due for a rig upgrade soon (a very large one!) and am just wieghing up my options. (So I have a bunch of questions!)

I have never played a P90 equipped guitar before and am curious as to how they sound. I have a PAF Pro in now and love it but am considering trying a Phat Cat. I have learned from this forum that a P90 is somewhere between a Hum and single....what do you think of it's soloing qualities? Do it's cleans sound nice? Any info would help.

I'm wanting to buy a new amp and am stuck on four amps: Fender Stage 1600, Line 6 Spider II 212, Marshall MG250DFX, and Randall RG200G2. I like rock, hard rock, and metal. I also want it to have a good clean vintage sound and have the best sounding distortion for all of these types of music. Which one of these amps would sound the best for what I like?
