I recently traded my much-ado-about-nothing Ibanez RG for a 2005 Fender Mexican Telecaster because the Edge Tremolo system made me angry beyond explanation. Now, the guitar is great and the maple fretboard is smooth as silk but when I plugged it in I immediately noticed the way huge twang in the guitar's tone and the clarity of the (stock) single coil pickups. I've been playing humbuckers so long that I completely forgot how cool single-coils sounded.
Anyway, I had to adjust my amp settings accordingly to make up for the aforementioned twang and right now, at this moment, I'm really digging the sounds I'm getting out of it.

Still undecided on pickups for my 70s strat,(rosewood neck/ash body)did try the surfers on a different strat before but didnt care for the bridge pickup much,to thin/trebly sounding.
Was gonna go with the Quarter Pounders but might want to try the Surfers again but with stronger Bridge PUP,any suggestions?

so i got the cab built by a carpenter around these parts.
went for the solid wood aproach for a more airy tone (and DUDE is this cab solid! i could throw it out the window and it'd stay in one piece.) it's also heavy as ****!

I was thinking of quot;pimping outquot; my old Yamaha with new pickups.. pickguard.. tuners.. and the like. I was thinking, since it was ungodly cheap and a fat strat knockoff, that I'd turn it into my quot;punkquot; guitar. But it has me wondering; Is this guitar worth the time and money? Witht the money it takes me to upgrade everything, would I be better off just getting a better guitar? The model is an EG112C.. very low end.. but it has a basswood body. What do you guys think?

Tooling around on this site has inspired me to turn my SG into the ultimate guitar of all time(or totally and tonally destroy it). I put the Duncan Distortion in the bridge and split it with a pot and I just ordered a Blues Saraceno for the neck. I will soon be rigging it up with one master volume, one tone for the bridge, one master bypass mini toggle, and have one toggle left over to use as a blend pot for the LR Baggs acoustic bridge thing that I'm pulling for as a Christmas present. I just ordered a 6 way chicken head selector to do all the switching, only because I talked myself out of cutting up a section in the controls panel to put in a 5 way selector switch like a Strat. I think I still prefer the inline, but I'll roll with this for a while and see how I like it.

Well I was browsing the soundsgreat.com website (my favourite shop in Manchester guitar wise...) and I found this

OK i have been working on installing a Floyd Rose bridge i own on a strat and i found that i need an R2 nut size... My nut i have is an R4 and does not work on the skinnier neck width... 12 years ago when i bought my Floyd Rose Original i had a choice of ordering the locking nut with 2 different styles... One is the older way of drilling holes thru the back of the neck for machine screws.... the newer way at the time was to have a nut with 2 little wood screws... (Kind of like Jackson does ontheir floyd copy nuts...) I ordered the R2 nut from Warmoth but i'll have to dill thru the neck for the machine screws.... In the future do you guys know of any suppliers that carry the FRO nuts but with little the wood screws?
