I went thru this tube search and may be sticking with EL34 tubes in my dual rectifier. I have a set of Svetlana 6l6 tubes used for about 1 hour and checked/rated by Bruce Egnater . I think they sound the sweetest in tone and have the best low end but I am leaning towards the mids of the EL34 Svetlana from Mesa. Mesa sent these special order and one of them had a ding in the glass so they sent another matching one to me. All 5 work perfect.

I found a Marshall VS100 head for dirt cheap. We're talking under ten bucks. Of course, there's a catch. The preamp doesn't work. The owner says they took it to a repair shop and they estimated it would be around $90 with labor. The owner also said they had this problem before. The head also doesn't come with a footswitch. So, I'm wondering, would this be worth buying?

My combo has 1 speaker @ 16 ohms
If I add a 1x12 extension cab that speaker should be 16 ohms as well and my amp should then be set at 8 ohms? Correct?

For all you Brian May enthusiasts, this is a mint condition Burns Tri-Sonic RI pickup set of 3 in chrome, professionally removed from my Burns of London RI guitar. The wires were simply unsoldered and not cut so they are still factory length.

Does how speakers are mounted in the cabinet effect the sound in any appreciable way?

Can you put covers on a twangbanger? I've heard it's a difficult fit.

Has anyone ever replace the chrome cover plate on a neck pickup for a Tele? (For example, a quot;Alnico II Pro for Telequot;) Is there any tricks to it? Will it casue any damage?

Anybody play or familiar with these?
