I'm about to purchase a fender 1972 re issue mexican made telecaster. The guitar comes with 2 fender quot;wide rangequot; humbuckers. I want to put a different humbucker in the bridge though, for im pretty sure the provided pickups will suck ass. I've been suggested to go with the seymour duncan pearly gates? Would this work? What would be better? Can anyone help me please? I play in a rock band. looking for a fat crunchy distortion sound. Will be played through a mesa dual rectifier. Thanks alot to anyone who can help me. Leigh. xo

Marshall AVT 50
My Marshall AVT50 Combo crapped out on me a few days ago. The power goes on but there's no sound. I know absolutely nothing about amps, but I do know this one isn't that great. Since it needs to get fixed anyway, can I mod it somehow so it doesn't sound like ass anymore? From what I've read, the Marshall AVT 50 isn't gig-worthy, and I'd like to make it gig-worthy. I don't have $1000 to spend on a new amp so I'd like to do all I can with this one.

Is it worth replacing the pre-amp tube in my hybrid amplifier?
For about 10 months, I've had a Hughs amp; Kettner ATS Sixty combo amp that my cousin has lent me (permanently). It has a ECC83 tube in the pre-amp with a solid state power section. I find the tone to be very pleasing and warm considering it's a cheap hybrid amp. It's supposed to sound heaps better than any Valvestate Marshall has made, although I haven't had much experience with the VS line to make such a comparison.

Crate PowerBlock: Yay or Nay?
from : localhost/need an amp with decent power and a decent price (I have a cab). I have all the effects I want in pedal form and the ability to transport without killing my back is a major plus.

Ok, You Electronic Geniuses
Explain this to me, please. My satellite receiver runs hot to the touch, but only when I have on the stereo system that it feeds into. If I have the satellite receiver on and the stereo system off, the satellite receiver generates virtually no heat at all. Can you explain this to me?

give me some ideas to waste my money
i was going through some old stuff the other day, and found $270 in an old wallet of mine. needless to say it made me damn happy. but im happy with all the pickups i have, and ive bought two really expensive guitars in the last 6 months, so im good on that front too, and im really happy with my amp. now im not saying $270 is my limit, i could always go into the money i was previously aware of, but how bout you guys just throw out some random gear ideas that might tempt me, cause i really cant think of anything. pedals, other gadgets, etc. any kinda gear stuff, go ahead
