The choice
Ive got an ibanez SA series with an HSS configuration (well, technically its HSH now i have a hotrails in the neck position), im considering getting a new seymour duncan in the bridge, a pickup with normal to medium output (not too high) that is good for distorted tones and riffing with a warmth to it, good for soloing (even though ill mostly use the hotrails for that) and when on clean it is warm and has good clarity. i thought of getting a quot;full shredquot; model because when i looked at the user list, phil campbell of motorhead uses the same one in the bridge and i feel he has a great sound so i figured that would be good, considering its medium output (compared to others)

Websites/Books/Movies...
I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread that lists all of the well known and proven resources for self-teaching. No matter of which media. Just post the title, author, media type, and what it's good for.Edit: I need some good stuff for LEARNING slide, I know nothing of the technique but would like to learn.

Ibanez Destroyer; quality control?
Hi, all. I got a new candy apple red Ibanez Destroyer last week. Cool. Great. I opened the box to scan it over and...if I'll be damned, the neck pick-up wasn't screwed into the pot, it was just hanging around in there. So, I loosened all the strings and got to work getting the pick-up properly installed. Easy enogh but annoying nonetheless. The truss rod was really tight when I set it up,too. That's no big deal-you expect that. However, leaving the neck-pickup in the state I found it in is unexcusable. Hello? Quality control? How can you miss that? Funny thing, there was a sticker on the back on the guitar detailing who inspected the guitar (for quality control) before it was shipped. So, I felt like sending an email off to Ibanez just to blog about my guitar, but alas, I couldn't locate any email address to complain about such things...they ahd an email address for everything else, not that I could find anyway. Anyway, I love Ibanez Destroyers, especially since they aren't nek heavy like some other explorer type guitars. Plays great and I do like the stock INF3 amp; 4 pick-ups. Would love to have one with a sunburst finish like Dave Murry played on the Beast on the Road tour. Bob

TSL 60 clip. kinda of dark vibe.
Here's a small clip. It's alot darker than I typically write, but I like it ok. Phaser. TSL Before the Governors.

Tried the new Carvin prs-alikes on the weekend...
Finally got round to checking out the local Carvin importer. They had three of the new California Carved tops in stock. I demo'd a trans black quilt top with a hardtail into a Legacy 2x12 combo (okay) and the small combo with tthe 5w switch (quite good).
