I consider myself an effect minimalist. I currently only use my Classic 30's overdrive, and I love my tone. Of course I wouldn't mind having a Fulldrive II or a nice wah in my rig, but for now I'm content. So for those of you who use little to no effects, are there any pedals that you consider MUST HAVES?

What kind of wood and why
I had been reading a lot of threads concerning what kind of wood should be used on guitars. A lot of folks chimed in and made suggestions based on their personal experience and taste. I am trying to find out exactly what kind of characteristics and properties of a certain kind of wood that have people make them the material of choice. I don't doubt people's experience about their guitars, it is properly true for them, but I'd like to get some facts about the woods like alder, poplar and agathis, not suggestions. Does any body have any info on these woods or knows where to get info about them?

Locking tuners
I'm trying to figure out which locking tuners to order for my Yamaha Pacifica. It's the H/S/S bare bones model. I can't stand the tuners on it, they have got to be replaced. I've seen Sperzel, Schaller and Fender. Which ones would fit my guitar? Also how much do most places charge to install tuners? I'm not really experienced in that area, but I'd like to know what to expect.

Advice requested regarding string gauge...thank you
I'd like to ask a question regarding string gauge. Presently, I own two Heritage guitars, a 150 (LP style) and a Prospect (semi-hollow) that are both 24.75quot; scale. I string them with 10's. I have a 25.5quot; scale acccoustic that I string with 11's. The more I play my accoustic, the more the high E and B strings on the Heritage guitars feel very thin. That said, G through low E feel great.
