I have a nagging thought in my head regarding the strat I assembled. I love the way the thing plays, but I just can't come to terms with the tone. I know a lot of it is the single coils, and the rest is probably the alder. I'm a big fan of humbuckers and woods like mahogany and basswood most of the time, so the strat was definitely a departure from the norm for me.

Quality of my pickups?
Well I took my new axe (ESP LTD H400) to a guitar lesson, and asked my teacher what he thought. Unplugged, he said it was great, but when he plugged it in, I don't think he was too impressed. (Although, I don't think his setup there was all that good, as his Steve Vai JEM didn't sound too flash either).

Controversial Amp Covering
Scott's thread about the truck liner for an amp covering really bothered me because I knew I had heard somewhere of a boutique builder doing it but couldn't remember who.

HSH LP Strat configuration
I want to be able to coil split a neck and a bridge with an on off type switch but yet use the 5 way to select pickups in the same manner as a standard strat. I have seen the coil split schematic for using noise canceling in the 2 and 4 position. I want that plus I want to be able to coil split the neck or bridge and select them with the 1st and 5th position just like a regular strat. Any wiring diagrams to do this?

C5 for bridge?
I am going for a Classic Rock sound. Some bands I would like to be able to sound like are Led Zep, Guns N' Roses, and AC/DC. The pick up would go in a Les Paul Studio. I have decided on a A2pro for the neck and for the bridge somebody suggested a C5. What do you guys think? It would be helpful if I could get some sound clips of the C5 or any other bridge pick up you suggest. Thanks for the help.

V Series VFX5112
Since my needs have increased I was thinking of selling my VFX5112. I will be playing shows with my band and I wanted to get a half stack. This amp is plenty loud, I have used it for band practice. It just not a guitar for heavy distortion. Has really nice clean channel, warm and very versile. The overdrive channel would be really nice for punk all the way to classic rock type distortion. It has a decent crunch when turned up. It is a combo with 1 12 inch speaker I was wondering what you guys would think it is worth. It is only 3 months old and there is no damage. It works perfect. It is 50 watts all tube and comes with some decent sounding effects, about 15 different effects I believe. Comes with footswitch that can be used to switch between 2 different Effects at a time on each channel. I paid 700 brand new, I was hoping to get something like 400 for it. What do you guys think? I don't have a digital camera right now but tomorrow I can post some pics.

SG Bridge Pickup
Hello everyone. This is my first post. I have a 1990 Les Paul Standard with an HB-L Humbucker designed by Bill Lawrence while at Gibson. The pickup measures about 14.5k resistance. This pickup screams through my Marshalls. Power, crunch, pinch harmonics jump off of this guitar. My 1999 SG bridge pickup measures about 13.5k. Seems pretty hot, but just doesn't have the power and sustain i want. I have to beg the SG for pinch harmonics staright through the amps. Any advice on a pickup upgrade for the SG would be appreciated. The tone of the guitar is great, just a little too weak. I have no idea what is in the SG. I would imagine a stock gibson pickup.

question about my amp
Ok, I'm pretty new at playing guitar but I have a question.
I only have a Marshall MG10CD amp (10 watt practice amp), my question is just; is it possible to plug a pedal into this little thing? Would it work if I plugged a pedal into the quot;CD inputquot; ??

powering pedals with different voltage
OK, all my Boss and MXR pedals are 9 volt but I know there are pedals that run at different voltage. When they are on the same pedal board, how do you power them all together?
Thanks,
