I have a formula that currently generates a unique id# but it changes
everytime I click thru this sheet or open it up again. I need a unique id #
that will stay permanent once assigned. PLEASE HELP!!

How about this:
Use the formula you created for generating unique ID - use the formula not
within the invoice range.
And use [copy-paste special/value] for any new invoice - paste to the cell
you want to store ID.
