Hi John, You asked me to compare the new Stack Plus Noiseless bridge pickup to the Antiquity Texas Hot and to the Twangbanger so I did. However, I don't have the latest version of the Stack Plus in a guitar at the moment...I've been using the original prototypes: flatter poles, warmer tone, the ones Nuno Bettencort is also using in his signature Washburn guitar.

Anyone know how to get this tone these days...?
I'm talkin about that violin like singing sustain in the solo of All right now, I also hear it in a bunch of Mick Ralphs solos in Mott's stuff like Ready for love, One of the boys, All the from Memphis, All the young dudes etc. Mick kinda lost that sound when he went to bad company, but still had it some what in 'Can't get enough'. You also hear a similiar tone in alot of Angus' pre-back in black solos. In the small solo in the T Rex song 'metal guru' you can hear that sound too. I know these guys heavy handed vibrato had alot to do with it as well.
I know they all used les pauls/marshalls but is there any way to get that tone with smaller amps(most likely booteek) these days? Something like 20-40 watts, preferably combo, 1x12. And able to be cranked and loud enough when playing with a band but still good for house levels? I know I'll probably get alot of 'only with a plexi' comments but I can't have something that big! Thanks guys

Here's my problem. I have a Charvel 750XL. It looks like this:
I am atempting to install a DiMarzio PAF in the neck and a Super Distortion in the bridge. The Electronics are equipped with the Jackson JE-0005 5 way 4 pole Switch as shown here in the bottom right corner: from : localhost/description of the switch is here, again, bottom right corner: from : localhost/wiring should provide the following, neck and bridge humbuckers alone at either end, both humbuckers in the middle and the notch positions should be outside coils in parallel and inside coils in parallel.

Rare Ibanez guitars
I was just looking on a website someone linked me to and it reminded me about a couple of very cool (IMO) Ibanez guitars that had very short production runs: the Maxxas and the Artfield. Anyone ever see one of these in person, play one, or maybe own one? I think the body styles are pretty unique, especially since they came out in the late 80s.

First Guitar
Well, I am in too far to stop now. My kids are learning electric guitar and doing very well (14 year old is into AFI and 11 year old into Metallica). They are having so much fun I had to join in. Therefore, naturally, I am making a guitar! I have already made most of the design decisions but I still have a few questions. Here is the design:It is semi hollow body and sort of based on my Martin D18VS.

New amp... all tube, metal...
So far I was thinking about either the Peavey Classic 30, the Ashdown Fallen Angel 40 or even 60, the Fender HotRod Deluxe or a JCM800 combo...
Thoughts? I'm looking for a thick distorsion, Zakk Wylde ish, with a trebly tone (a bit like Children of Bodom) though of course I'd mess about with it a lot.
