I want to try a compression pedal, any advice?
As the title says...
I think I'll see if the local shop has a BOSS CS-3 if I get a chance to go in on Monday, but I'll be in El Paso next week and I'm sure they've got music shops where I can try some stuff out.

For you amp building gods...
For those of you who have become professional amp techs and amp builders, or those who have performed your own amplifier modifications, where did you get your background? Did you apprentice in a shop, or did you pick up a book and start reading one day?

Invader Rawks
Coming from a Gibson/Dimarzio background for over 20 years, I finally took the Duncan plunge.I am ridiculously happy with the brute that is the quot;Invaderquot;. I popped one of these baby's in the neck of my Kelly and boy howdy, let's shake the foundations! I got the high output and stupididly wicked bass I was looking for.I have several guitars to jack around with, so I combined what I know with my new best friend the Invader. So currently one of my Jackson Kellys is outfitted with a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge and the afformentioned Invader in the neck. It's a high octane machine. Mind you it sure ain't for nice slow tunes, but I'm very happy with it.
This combo is definately something you wouldn't rig on an axe meant for versatility, but it is a wicked combo.

Anyone owns the ENGL screamer50 combo???.....
I am not very satisfied with my marshall TSL601........it has a kind of cheap sound and i was thinking of an ENGL screamer 50 combo. Has anyone tried it? Does it offer enough gain?(i also own a mesa boogie dc5 and since i never use stompboxes for distortion i want the amp to offer enough gain.......just like my mesa dc5). How does it sound under gain?......is it more of a Marshall kind of distortion or a smoother boogie type of tone? I am not very fond of the 5881 tubes that come with the engl as any amp i have tried with these tubes didn't do it for me.......
