I cant decide which one. Can someone recomend the pedal that is the most organic sounding, has the most and clearest gain, and can do blues to 80's metal. It doesnt have to nail all these qualities perfectly just better than the other pedal.

I replaced the lower quality opamps in mine with higher performance and low noise TI TL072 BCP chips mounted on chip holders...I then installed some metal film resistors where I felt they'd help knock down some extra hiss...Caps were upgraded, but the last two low and low mid caps were increased to get more overall low and low mid adjustments from my eq..Some 1mfd electrolytic can caps were also upgraded to much preffered high quality poly caps..It's now very quiet,in fact I'm running the eq volume at 1 or 2 notches above center...I've tryed the eq in both the effects loop and the amp input. So far I prefer it in the loop....The pedal is very quiet and you can't tell whether the pedal is even on unless you switch it in and out of the circuit and hearing the tonal changes...I'm happy with the outcome!

I've got this Aria Pro which was a gift from a friend that I'd been messing with for a few years and didn't even know it had a coil tap. I recently decided to put a new humbucker in the bridge and put some decent hardware on it. I'm still waiting for the bridge to show up for a central ground or whatever, but I slid on the old bridge that is missing a claw to solder to just to see if I could hear it through an amp. It made all sorts of buzzing and other noises, but it actually worked (my first wiring/soldering venture). My question is that could the central ground be responsible for all the noises when turning knobs, or would that be just old crappy potentiometers? Or bad wiring/soldering? The guitar was doing this before I wired it, and it wasn't grounded then either. I'm just looking for an opinion that might speed things up for me while I'm waiting for parts to arrive. Also I was wondering if the wiring for the push-pull tap in the 1 humbucker 1 vol. 1 tone w/coil split schematic was right-side up, and if I could use it on either a 500K volume or 250K tone pot. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I just got back from rehersal and trying my strat with a Custom trembucker in the bridge. The highs are not as bright as the 59 but lacks the roundness of the bottom on a 59. Much to my surprise it had the midrange honk of the jb. At first it was kind of cool, but after a while that's all I could hear was the midrange and it drove me nuts trying to get rid of it (adjusting the amp). This is the exact reason I dislike the JB, so this weekend project will be to remove the custom and replace it with the 59. I rather have it too bright than too midrangey.

I know that a Distortion (neck) and a Cool Rails (bridge) aren't meant to go together, but I popped this CR in temporarily to see how it sounds 'til its new home is ready.
