I need to replace my crappy guitar and crappy amp however I am strictly limited when it comes to cash
I was thinking about a strat
do you guys have any suggestions?Preferably nothing over $700
and definately nothing over $800
I don't need anything real fancy just something that is reasonably comfortable and not a complete piece of crap
Thanks
jackson Pro, MG or JS series should offer something fitting(dinky or soloist). Just have a look at their website. Or just go searching for a genuine fender on ebay.
I have my Epi Les Paul Black Beauty with a JB in it on ebay and is now around 275, try that. A very good guitar right there.
an agile guitar from from : localhost/with some upgraded pots and pup replacements ...
a used tech21 trademark 60 amp
i bet you could score them both for around you pricemark and be all kinds of set for tone and playability
good luck
t4d
Another good guitar to look at would be a Godin. They're very playable and well made. The ones I've listened to (these had Duncans) sounded pretty good, too.
Thanks guys
that rondomusic link looked pretty good but most of the others i was already aware of anyway it will still probably be some time before i can afford an amp and guitar and stilll welcome any more suggestions
Don't discount used gear. This only cost me about $500, and I could have done it much cheaper if I hadn't replaced ALL the hardware (most of it was fine).

Cool. Thanks. I'm a little bit northwest of where you are.

cool by the way what is it with texas and kick-ass guitar players. Usually i would think it to be quite rare to have good talent anywhere but in texas if you need a replacement for your bands best guitar player, you just have to ask like 10 random people on the street and one of them would be a perfect fit no matter what genre you play
I was wondering also if it would be wothwhile to just use the raptor body and get a fender-like neck with 22-frets and SD pickup's of course or is it really to horrible of a body to even bother
Yep, there's lots of players here.

sorry to go off topic but back on the subject i'd like something really versitile and easily modified (as far as pickups, etc) I don't mind having to replace the pickups or anything non-expensive (tuners, etc.) but if i spend $200 on a guitar and end up having to spend $500 or so, later to actually get something of quality id much rather spend $500-800 now.
Also any advice on the feasibility of moding my existing Raptor would be awesome
Grab yourself a MIM Fender Strat. They are very upgradeable and the best bang for the buck out there. The parts are made in the US, just assembled in Mexico. Can't go wrong and you will have a quality instrument for years to come. Under $400.
As for the amp, if you're just messing around at home and still learning, Vox Valvetronix (15 watt), Roland Cube 15 or 30.
You should be able to get both the guitar and amp for under $800, and if you ask, and depending on the store, they might throw in a gig bag for free. If you don't want to go to GC, check out Charlie's Guitar Shop.

i have apparently have confused you guys about the price
I would like a resonably good amp and guitar and for the individual cost of each item to prefferably be under 700 and absolutly not over 800.
so in total nothing over $1600
sorry for any confusion
You're wanting to play metal, I'm assuming?
