From Giller amps, NY. Exact clone of a mid-nineties (ef86 version) matchless clubman. It's the only one Ed has ever built, made from a hand-drawn matchless schematic.
Sounds just like the real deal, and i've got clips to prove it.
The quote i got from him in an email upon it's first fire-up was:
quot;as soon as i finish it, i'm building myself a low-powered version; this thing sounds incredible!quot;* Master vol, gain, bass, treb, brilliance.
* 8/16 ohm selector (OT also has a 4 ohm tap, so it could be switched by a tech).
* Pentode/Triode (1/2 power) switch.
* Effects send amp; return *front mounted*
* Housed in a white solid wood cab w/ black chassis.
The only difference btn this and an original matchless is that ed biased the tubes cooler to keep them from dying so quick. From what i hear, a 'real' clubman on 10 mushes out. No such mush here. Still got plenty of volume.
This is absolutely a one-of-a-kind, beautifully crafted amplifier. It has been to a few rehearsals and one gig, but has spent most of it's time in my living room.
I've also run it w/ 6L6's and it's fantastic.
Will ship with 2 ef86's (it only takes one): one is a NOS quot;Cquot; Winged tube, and the other is a new Svet.
