today i called up avatar amp; ordered a couple cabs
a 4x12 with an x pattern of red white amp; blues and swamp thangs
and then another 2x12 with swamp thangs, for impedance amp; volume whore reasons
all in all, it should rule
anyone want an SPL reading when i get it? i forgot what the meter things are called, so tell me that, and how to accurately get a reading, and i'll have one for you by friday next week
Sweet. I'm wanting to get one of their 2X12's but not sure what speakers to go with. I hate it when there's more than 2 choices.

Most likely.
This should be interesting... lemme know how those things sound!
With 4x12's you can get a hell of a lot of great tones, and you won't be lacking in mids, bass or highs-a great sound. Let me know how your tone quest concluded once you get them, I'm sure they'll sound awesome!
You'll have a pretty sweet 6x12 config there! DANG!
thanks guys
also, about using the meter, i know you're supposed to do from 1 meter away, but, how high off the ground?

This is crazy, flat crazy. Make sure to wear earplugs! Its sounds so stupid to have to wear earplugs to play guitar....And speaking of which, you haven't been playing that long, whats the point of enough volume to kill entire civilizations?

seriously guys, i dunno where this 8 month thing is coming from, but i've been playing for...over 2 years, and for the past 7-8 months i've been taking lessons from 2 different people
and yes, it is fun to play very, very loudly
i remember after i first got the 170 i was in a band amp; used this guys marshall 1960 with the g12t75's amp; a little 1x12 to match impedance, standing infront of that thing made my pant legs like...wave, it was awesome, and this cab has way more efficient speakers than that, so it should be interesting

That's cool, but seriously wear earplugs. There's honestly no reason to play that loud (maybe a stadium gig, but you'd still be mic'd ) and you can do some major damage to yourself. If your ears are fatigued after a jam session, you've done some harm.

1 on that. You're young so be wise and take care of your ears now. Just ask Pete Townsend what it's like to contantly have a ringing in your ear like a telephone that won't stop.

it's rock amp; roll man, not emo
I don't like to play barely over drummers who use brushes amp; use coloring effects to compensate for a lack of talent amp; a girlfriend
I like to dime the bass, crank the gain, and knock people on their @$$
plus, i've never had a sound guy at a gig, and prolly won't till i get a little older amp; can play bars, so if i wanna be ridiculously loud, it's in my hands
