do any of you know of a better gain pedal better then the drive on the peavey classic 50 combo 4x10?
it will be used for higain stuff, such as hard rock, alice in chains and guns,
some drop D tuning as well for linkin park and incubus covers.I use 2 distortion pedals for higain thru my Classic 50..... I use a DS1 for more mild but Marshall style dirt and then for Heavy Metal i use a Danoelectro Fab Tone..... The Fab Tone has more fuzz then anyone would need and has bottom end to it that makes small combos sound like a stack..... Thru a Classic 50 the fab tone is great! Thru Fender amps and a few others i don't like the Fab Tone as much but it seems to work really well with the Peavey model!

Try a Fab Tone out and if you like that huge bottom end over the top Distortion it is in that pedal.... The tone of that pedal really works well with a Classic 30 or 50, which i own both.... My DS1's are stock so far. They don't quite have the bottom end i really want but i am thinking of having one modded for that.. we'll see... but i like the DS1 a lot as it is and they can come close to a Marshall style sound! I own 2 Fab Tones and 2 DS1's as i like them so much i wanted spares...
Pedals work and sound different thru different amps.. I have a Boss Mega Distortion that is kind of like an insanely souped up DS1.... It's like hooking 2 DS1's together. Thru a Traynor amp at the store it made the amp sound like a Boogie.... But when i got the pedal home it sounds god awful thru my Peaveys! It's all about connections i guess.... I did find if i play with the knobs on the Mega Distortion that i could get more low end but still get DS1 style sounds... First thing you do is turn the extra distortion knob to 0....
Never tried the Tone Bone stuff yet but the local store has some and i'm heading there today....

I'll keep an eye out for that GT2, thanks. I was at the local store and saw the Tone Bone pedals but i got caught up in something else and forget to plug one in.... Off the repair guys i used to work with i got the pickups out of a Ernie Ball for cheap.... They are Dimarzios... They also have a vintage ac power MXR Flanger from the late 70's in! I had to pick what i was going to buy.... ended up with the pickups.... The store has 3 different Tone Bone models in. Since a real tone freak started to manage the store they have been carrying lots of different higher quality pedals. It's a huge store with 100's of guitars on the wall and in stock! I would have to guess the sales racks have 300 guitars on the walls plus they have lots of overstock not seen!
Bazil does have some cool music dvds that are hard to come by anywhere else.... Iron Maidens Live After Death is on DVD only Bazil...

It's a very cool unit eh..... I find with only 25% used of the distortion settings it is amazingly heavy! I have the distortion knob only on at 11 o'clock at the most!
