I've played small parties outside before, but never a big gig. I have one coming up. I usually use an amp stand and tip it up so I can hear it and cut through. Should I do this for the outdoor gig? There will be competent sound men there and amps will will be miked.

Humbuckers and Fender Amps?
I just love single coils and a clean/overdriven Fender amp. What are some quot;definitive songsquot; that employ a humbucker w/a Fender amp? Although I'm sure there are hundreds of songs out there, I just don't know any for sure.

effects pedals
i was wondering if anyone has or has played using a marshall guv'n'or pedal, and if it would be worth getting. I now use a boss mt-2 metal zone pedal but im looking for something to give me a better rock n roll/classic rock sound. Anyone have suggestions for something that might be better than both of them?

Difference between Alnico2/5
Hey, I've got some pickup magnets lying around, but I don't know which are Alnico 2's and which are Alnico 5's. Is it possible to tell the difference, even if I don't have access to a gaussmeter? Of course, I could just try them all one-by-one in a humbucker, but that takes too long...
