i was wondering if anyone has or has played using a marshall guv'n'or pedal, and if it would be worth getting. I now use a boss mt-2 metal zone pedal but im looking for something to give me a better rock n roll/classic rock sound. Anyone have suggestions for something that might be better than both of them?
I'm not a big pedal user anymore i sold most of them (i like tube amp gain best!) so others that use them more often may have other ideas....but if you liked the MT-2 enough to buy it i'd guess you like a bit of extra gain but your still looking for more of a classic sound...i'd say try out a pro-co rat...they can get classic rock gain all the way to higher gain which is enough for some metal.

I've played one of the new Guv'Nors. It's not really geared towards a classic rock sound, moreso towards a modern rock/nu-metal in my opinion. I think the Jack Hammer might be more suited towards your needs.
Stratdeluxer97 (john) mods a crapload of distortions and overdrive pedals... he uses a JackHammer stock and loves it. Maybe a Jackhammer is what you're looking for?
I use a stock Marshall Jackhammer that I bought new and I Love it...It does the JCM 800 thing really well on the overdrive side and the distortion side is kind of like a Rectifier setting and is darker, gainey and compressed...I only use the crunchier, tighter overdrive side..
What kind of amp do you have? I find that with a Boss BD-2 you can get some really good tones for classic rock if you're using the pedal as a boost into the gain channel of your amp.

if ur using an original SR then that thing must never get above about 3 on the volume dial. anyway i second the rat and also suggest looking into robert keeley modded ds-1s,blues drivers and his fuzz head pedal. youve got an amazing starting point btw.
Fulltone's OCD pedal.
good rock tone...Tubescreamer, Rat, Modded DS-1, any of these would be fine choices!

I play mostly blues fueled type of stuff, that being said I would say there are two pedals worth looking into. An Ibenez TS9 or a Boss Super oeverdrive. I have used both of these with my Super with excellent results. John Spina Modded a TS9 for me and it is a great pedal, but a stock TS9 RI is still a pretty good OD pedal. The Boss Super OD is also a good pedal. I also use a Marshall 900 50W combo, and I have an original Bluesbreaker pedal that I use with this Amp. The way I use it is more to push the Amp over the edge just on rare occasions when I am looking to get a little agressive feedback. The B.B. pedal is a nice pedal, but it really does not have a lot of gain, where the TS9 or the Super OD have a much larger and therefore much more diversity in the way you can use it.
the MT-2 dosent sound very good at anything higher than bedroom levels, so i hear...
