If I want a Custom and an A2P with nickel covers, do you think it would be easier to order without covers and put them on myself, or wait for SD to add the covers in the factory?

It doesn't look that hard to put a cover on a humbucker, so I figured I'd buy a pair from StewMac and pop them on. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this?

I'd wait and get them from Duncan. They'll retain the warranty and 21 day exchange. If you alter the pickups yourself you'll void the warranty. Plus, the Duncans will be wax potted. Lew

Lew, how much of a wait are we talking about for a factory cover? Keep in mind I live in Canada.

Just depends whether SD has it in stock or not. If it's in stock I can get things within a week...if it's not, some special orders can be a long, long wait. One month or even longer.

Thanks for the info Lew. I was planning on waiting for the 21 day exchange to run out before adding the cover, so that's not an issue. Voiding the warranty may not be such a good idea though. I'll see if I can tough it out for a month
