I have $800 saved up and want to upgrade my cheapo acoustic to something decent. I plan on just flat picking, playing dylan, jack johnson, ben harper, dispatch, etc. So I want a solid wood acoustic that gives a mellow tone that is good for playing solo acoustic/singing along with.
Right now on my list to play are:
1. Martin D-15
2. Larrivee D-03
3. Tacoma DM9
4. Taylor 210
The larrivee is actually a little more than I wanted to spend, but if it is that much better than the others I'll get it. I was just wondering if there were any other guitars in my price range I should consider and if anyone could tell me some things about the four I listed.
Thanks
With the 4, the best thing I can say is just try out all 4 and see which one you like best. Everyone who answers here is going ot have a diff. opinion of which one is better, so just try and see which one is the best to you.
As for something else to try, I have a Seagull Artist series Studio, which is a solid spruce top and solid rosewood back(the sides are rosewood laminate) and it just sounds amazing. Nice warm tone with great clarity. My fav. acoustic I've ever played(hence why I decided to buy it).
I played a larrivee last week and I must say the construction and sound was most impressive.
