[FONT=Arial]Well I tried the Custom to my strat and I think it sucked. A friend has got a Custom in his Epi SG and it sounds great. Now I have to buy a new PU. I play mostly emo/rock. I`ve been thinking 59' and Custom 5. So which one would be better?
Many people claims that the 59 it's a great bridge pup for a strat. I think that would a great option if you have low output pups on the other spots.
fender has an off-the-shelf model which has a Duncan as default amp; it ain't the '59- they chose Pearly Gates. maybe the fender guys find this humbucker to have the best voicing for its strat, you can take the cue from them...
i dunno if there's a mistake in your post- your title seems to mention the C5 but you got us started on the Custom instead...

Actually they use what they call the quot;Pearly Gates Plusquot; which it is a standard Pearly Gates with an alnico V magnet. So Fender uses a low output, paf style pup with an Alnico V magnet. And that's very similar to the 59 .
Strat are bright guitars then a C5 would work fine ( it have strong basses and non agressive highs ) and if you have a Custom already you can just order an alnico5 magnet and put it in your custom , very easy to do .

****!!! I never thought that! Where could I order them from? How much would it cost?
You could get both, make the hybrid, then sell the other hybrid on ebay.
Magnets come from for me.
custom-custom alnico II model?
I would think this would rock in a strat?
I've used Custom 5's and 59s in an alder/rosewood strat. The 59 may balance closer to vintage singles, but the C-5 has a nice tight bass, which is good on a strat. The guitar sounds best when the tone is rolled back to 7 or 8, just to tame it a little.
Right now, I'm experimenting with a different pickup in that guitar.....the most overlooked bridge pickup, until Jolly turned me onto it.....the Jazz Bridge.
Funny that nobody's ever thought of putting a Jazz into a strat. I'm not even sure if they make a Trem version, but the poles on my standard one line up good enough.
It's a little harder under the fingers than a JB or C-5. A very hard attack, but it's got great clarity and tone. I find myself keeping the tone rolled back on this one too.
I think you should either trade a forum member straight across for your Custom, or do what was suggested.....swapping the magnet for an Alnico 5, making it a C-5.
Thanks for the answers!!! Looks like I`m going to try to change the magnet first.
