A pox on your house, damn you! Had to go show off that new Refin R7, didn't you?

Had to do it the week I was driving through Dever, huh?

Had to do it, knowing full well that the only dealers on the planet that got these were Wildwood in CO and Dave's in WI?

Had to light up my GAS fires?

Damn you...

one with flash, one without it, Brockburst 57 Reissue quot;Refinquot; Lester (and they matched Dave's price)
LOL

so i take it you got my check

they're gorgeous - congrats and enjoy

cheers
t4d

Man I am dying!!!!

I am trying to be so good and you bunch of GASaholics are killng me!!!!!!!!

Congrats Scott, as beautiful as LZ's

Damn you Scott_F!

Does this mean you now own three RI LPs? Are you going for a complete set or what?

Good man!!

... R6, R7, R8 ...

All you need now is an R5 and an R9 ...

add on a nice R9 burst with nice flame and then one of those Oxblood '55 RI's (I am think of the right guitar? Oxblood LP ... wrap-a-round tailpiece, Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow cover... I believe that was a '55) and you'll have yourself a straight flush

t4dI haven't gotten home yet, will look for the check tonight and mail off your new PRS tomorrow. I'm taking a bit of a gamble in that I gave you a short approval period. I'm screwed if you're not happy!

So, if t4d isn't happy with the PRS, I'll be selling an R6 or R7 CHEAP and QUICK! haha!

All kidding aside, you're going to love the PRS. Now all I gotta do is come up with an R9 and I've have 4 of a kind. The R2 and R4 do not interest me in the slightest, nor does the R0. So, my sights will eventually turn to an R9 (maybe... if the wife doesn't divorce me over this one)

this is great! That ones beautiful! Gorgeous flame, I hope you love it as much as I love mine!

Its funny because I emailed Wildwood before I emailed Dave's asking about the refins but they never got back to me! (o ya, and you're VERY welcome!!)

I took pics of all 4 of them, posted them on the LPF and some dude bought one of them immediately.

Brockburst 1Washed Cherry

Brockburst 2 (this one had the best fit in terms of matching the two top pieces, it almost looks like a plaintop R8)

Brockburst 3 (this is the one I bought)
I saw your thread in the LPF too, yours is the best looking of the bunch, 2 of the other's tops were too unevenly matched, one side highly figured the other plain, still a very original look though. If Wildwood drops gibson (Dave's already has) I wander if these refins will become some kind of collectable? Doesn't matter to me either way because I can't see myself selling this beauty!!

Sweet buy, enjoy it.

beautiful burst, Scott

allright thats just not fair lol nice score though

I thought that was weird that one of Gibson's best dealers is no longer associated with them. Daves dropping gibsons is a pretty big deal considering they were the best dealer in the midwest

Tell me more, what's it loaded up with, what's it weigh, how much do these little beauties run???? I need I need I need I need I need!!!!!

They gave me a great tradein on my ebony LP Standard and still honored their best price on the net. I'm very disgusted they are no longer a dealer. But, now's a great time to get a super price from them.

I guess Dave's will have to focus on PRS and Fender now. It really is sad.

I need I need I need I need I need!!!!!Burstbuckers 1 and 2, weighs in right at 9 lb even (the other ones were all between 9 and 9 lb 4 oz.) and they matched the 1995 price that ledzepp29 got from Daves. 'Nuff said.

Here's the kicker, none of these 4 had some of the tiny little flaws that my R8 had when it arrived. The R8 has a little reddish bleed through on the neck binding (but hey, so did the original ones from the 50's) and a tiny bit of orangepeeling on the finish around the skinny edge of hte headstock top. Only a tiny bit, not enough to warrrant sending back a great player.

The refins only had one flaw that I could pick out. Some of the fret markers on 2 of them were a bit too quot;agedquot; if you will. Some were done with what looks like the Classic inlays while some, like the one I bought and the R8 and R6 I have, were more white/silver on the inlays.

So, I'm in there, dealing with Bruce and Steve and the regional Gibson rep is in the house at the same time. I had a nice conversation with him while Bruce was digging up all the Refins. I expressed to him how utterly crappy it was that these little guys were getting squeezed like this. He agreed with me that he thought it wasn't cool either, but he doesn't make the rules. He told me that he was hearing it from everyone, everywhere he went.

As I was leaving, I went back up to him and told him once again, I didn't want to buy a 2 to 3 thousand dollar guitar from WalMart, errr. GC/MF. I thought it was bad business all the way around. And, if this is what they do with 2005 models and beyond, I'd be concentrating on buying used from now on, or picking up NOS 2004 models from dealers I could trust. The entire time Steve was standing behind the guy giving me huge thumbs up! It was pretty amusing.

Score!!!! they're gorgeous, I bet they play every bit as good as they look. Thanks for the info on the refins, sounds like something worth looking into.
