I'm hot- rodding a 97 strat and I changed the electronics in it. I put all new pots in there (all 250K) that aren't Fender brand, but they are made in USA. I got Fender brand quot;aged whitequot; volume and tone knobs to go on them. After I installed the pots on the pickguard, and installed the knobs on the shafts I noticed that the knob skirts are kinda high off the pickguard. Shouldn't the skirts be very close to touching the pickguard???
Did I install the pots wrong? They have split shafts, and they came with 3 things- a washer with quot;teethquot; on it, a flat washer, and a nut. I installed them with the quot;toothedquot; washer on the shielded side and the flat washer and nut on the top side.

I pretty sure now I'm going to les paul guitar now instead of a pgm. My strat should good enough for my shredding needs, cause Yngwie Malmsteen can uses one to shred. Now I need to decide if I'm going a double cut or single cut. I'm going to guitar center to try some out to see which one's shape I would like better and if I actually like the sound of p90s. Right now I'm planning to get either a tv yellow or goldtop les paul. I'm looking at getting a Tokai MIJ if I decide to go single cut.

So I need a cab. I'm going to try and make a 2/12 cab. Now my idea as of right now it to copy a Mesa Boogie Rectifier Series 2/12 with a closed back. What I am guessing I can do it, with the pictures of every angle of this cab I have, is to copy the measurements exactly and the wood exactly and come out with somewhat of a similar sound although I am not expecting it to sound the same. What woods should I take into consideration for this project forumites? What wood does Mesa use and what's the price of this wood? All help and comments are very welcome!

Lew was telling me in another post that the Jazz neck is a nice match for a '59 bridge in an SG. Will it offer vintage tones through a tube amp? I like the fact that it's great for clean runs, but I don't want it to sound too sterile. Another option I was thinking of is the SethLover neck. I think the '59 is out b/c I'm hearing it's too quot;boomyquot;. Let me know and then I'm going to order this bad boy.

im lookin for a cheaper stack [half or full doesnt matter]that i could probably buy used. it doesnt really matter to me if its tube or solid state...... i play heavy metal like ozzy ,pantera, metallica, ect. any help appreciated
