Ok, so I thought I quot;basicallyquot; knew how a pickup worked, and what affected tone, but it turns out i dont. The thing that is puzzling me is resistance and output. What i've been led to believe is the the more output a pup has the more distortion you can get out of it, right? I used to think that resistance and ouput were proportional, an increase in resistance meant an increase in output, but i studied some spec charts and it turns out that this is not the case. So what does resistance do then? If output is independent of resistance, how does resistance affect tone?

If the tone is there...do you care about aesthetics?
So you go into your local Guitar place.

What is a good neck match with Rio BBQ Bridge?
Anyone have any suggestions as to what a good match would be for the Bridge Rio BBQ in les paul. I have not heard the Rio Texas yet, but many say in a les paul it may be to bassy? I currently have a 59n and it seems to be to bassy. I love the sound of it and I've tried to componesate, with adjustments but the 59 just gets to boomy on the low end.
any thoughts?

Imagine the Instruments Lost in the New Orleans disaster!
I realize instruments are far less important that human lives, and homes, but I just had a thought about all the Guitar Business in the regions effected by Katrina. If you google for New Orleans or Biloxi music stores, quite a few come up. Since the south is filled with a lot of classic guitars, I wonder how many guitar treasures have swept away in the water!? I know there's a few well known internet stores that were based out of the New Orleans area. I can't imagine the losses some of those stores have been hit with.

Tell me about your SPLAWN!
If you recall my thread about the Carvin Legacy, I asked for feedback about the Legacy. I was very impressed with what I heard, as well as what I saw on the Carvin DVD, so I called them. My experience with Carvin was nothing less than terrible. The salesman was rude as could be, and I will never buy a Carvin product for as long as I live.
