Is there a difference between the Celestion Vintage 30s and the ones that come in Marshall cabinets (Mode Four) and actually have the Marshall name on them? Thanks!

I saw one of these in a local music store the other day and thought it was the coolest! Has anybody played one?

Cranked amp to 10.. thought attenuator was about to melt
Wow guys, today i finally dimed my Laney and I must say it was a different sound than what i was used to. Of course without my minimass it wouldnt have been possible in my friends apartment. I finally had to turn the gain knobs DOWN to keep it under control, usually i keep them maxed out most of the time. After a few minutes of unbelief, i started packing up my things to leave and i unplugged one of the cables and stuck it into the cab, and reseated my attenuator. I wasnt expecting to get a burn on my fingers from it. It was a bit hotter than tubes usually get. I was wowed for a while after this whole experience.. do attenuators usually get this hot when dealing with that much power? I hope nothing inside was damaged...

Speaker changing advice needed
I was thinking of changing the speaker in my 65 watt waller solid state amp. Its a 12 inch factory speaker. I'm using a michael kelly lp with Seth Lover pups, a Clapton Crossroads pedal, going into the amp. Would changing the speaker help me improve my tone? If so what would be good to put in the amp? I play mostly Cream songs

Sometimes '59/JB more versatile than Jazz/JB
All,
Thought I'd pass on something that I thought was interesting while I was researching. Say you're like me, you have a Les Paul style guitar that is mahogany (or closest to) and rosewood for fretboard, and you want to be able to play in all styles. So you use Tone Wizard, enter these values, and try each style. It spits out first and second choice picks for your values. So you write them all down, every style. You assign 2 points for being the first choice, 1 point for being the second choice. If you do that and tally it up, you'll find that the '59 neck pickup has the highest points for a neck pickup: 10. The JB will have the highest (10) for the bridge pickup. I just found that slightly interesting, since the Jazz/JB is supposed to be the most versatile combination. I guess it depends on what your guitar is made of, eh? On a lighter note, I'm going with the '59/JB combo, and I'll get both in 4-wire variety.
