if I'm not mistaken, they have the exact same output level, just a wider pole spacing, right? is the sound any different since the poles are farther apart?

say we're talking a gretsch with an ebony fretboard, and filtertrons, vs a tele with an alder body, and a maple fretboard. What would be the big tonal differences?

I was surfing the net for some good overdrive stompboxes containing real tubes,many people said they doesn't sound as good as a preamp tube working in an amp because the voltage required in not enough to drive the tube to its peak in the stompboxes...but this 'tubester' has a voltage control to drive the tube as desired setting so has anyone used it before,does it sound really good compared to ehx hot tubes,chandler tube drive,ibanez tube king?

I Need to do the wiring for quot;2 humbuckers, 1 volume, 1 tone, 5-way switch, w/coil splittingquot; BUT my neck pickup doesn't have a splitting option (ie it's a simple two-wire one).

I have read many times here now that many feel the CC is just too compressed and hot for the older VH tone
well the CC does a fantastic first 4 EVH records tone if you set it far away from the strings

my plan is to buy an epiphone 67 flying v off ebay for cheeeap and strip the paint, sand it down.. and give it a silverburst finish on the front and back of the body and also on the back of the neck.. jus like the very few silverburst v's that were produced by gibson in the late 70s/early 80s (I'm also going to get a gibson truss rod cover to fool people on stage).. but anyways I've been researching the procedure and which method should I use to strip the factory paint off the v? (chemicals, heat, power sander???)

just got my invader and jazz pups in the mail. i dont know how to solder...should i take them to the local music place and have them do it for me? if so..how much am i looking at spending to have them install em?
