Ive never had a guitar professionally set up before. I do ok intonating, setting action, replacing pickups etc. A pro set up costs $100-200 in my area and since my financial resources are very limited, (im currently working 3 jobs to take care of my family) if I manage to put $100 aside, I feel I should use it for something lasting and tangable like a pedal or tubes. However, Ive heard that a pro set up and fret dress and all makes a guitar play like a dream. Is this a good investment?

My Ibanez Project
Here’s a few pics of the Ibanez project I’ve been working on. This is a 1997 Ibanez RG170… a cheapo right off the shelf. I’m going for the proverbial “from chicken **** to chicken soup.” Almost done with it, just need to repair a couple “oopsies” from the bridge routing and prep for shooting clear.

Remove Fret Glue
Is there any way to remove excessive fret glue that seeps out the edges of the fretboard? I dont want to ruin the finish though. Thanks!

I'm going nuts{HELP} DB'S CLEAN VOLUME BOOST
Ok here it is. Forever trying to boost my solos. Need suggestions on boosting guitar leads? I use a Marshall Plexi... Reverb in the loop OCD in front of the amp. My tone is killer. Ive tried using everything to do this and it just doesnt work, all it does is make it just a hair louder and fuzzy. I'm goin nuts. Ive tried the Duncan booster, eq's, additional od's you name it I've tried it in the loop front back inside out just screws my tone up. I just need some DB's clean DB'S that's all. To add volume to my original tone. Is this at all possible? I've only achieved true volume boost in multi channel heads. This has gotten mighty expensive and sucks at gigs with no soundman. HELP

You Guys Were Right About the Lone Star
I had the opportunity to play through a Mesa Lone Star today and you guys were totally right. They didn't have a Lone Star Special, so I gave the regular Lone Star a go.
