I'll admit, before I got on this forum, I'd never given much thought about modding my electronics with capacitors. I'd gotten used to my volume pots having a natural sweep from 0-10. When adding a capacitor between the two non grounded wipers on the pot, you lose that even sweep. What happens is that your pickups sound bright and clear from 2-10, but there's not a dramatic change in volume level. What you gain is more treble and clarity when the volume is backed off.

I have an old yamaha pacifica from a few years back, which hasnt been used much recently. About a year ago i took the scratchplate off, with a view to have a look inside and maybe replace the stock p/us. I never actually bought any- too many other considerations . Anyway, the guitar got left, with the scratchplate off, just resting on the body, and still secured by the groundwire and the main output wire. After a while someone knocked the guitar over (damn kids! ) and these broke. Yesterday i soldered everything back up just as it was, it seemed like a pretty simple job. However, when i try to plug it in there is no sound at all. And here is teh really weird part - it buzzes like crazy, but when i toucch the strings or any other metal object on the guitar, the buzzing cuts out. I havnt done anyhting with it yet - id rather not die for the sake of a guitar, and esp. a pacifica...
So what can I do? Any ideas about what has happened? Like i say, everyhting is as it should be.i wonder if i messed the pots up with the soldering iron or soemthnig like that?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has used a peavey bandit or similar solid state amp into another cab.
I find the bandits bass response pretty crappy at meduim/high to higher levels. It just freakin farts itself out. And the louder you crank it the tinnier it gets too! Would this be fixed if I used the speaker out into a 2x12 or 4x12??? Does this 80watt solid stater have the guts for it?

I recently came across a posting on the Net that Eddie Van Halen actually used mostly Gibson's (V's and Paul's) to record most of the work during the Roth-era b/c the Frankenstrats sounded too thin in the studio. Truth or lies? And as I sit here CRANKING quot;Fair Warningquot; please detail what he used on this, his (INMHO) best album of guitar playing.

Hi I just bought this new guitar with seymours (hot rails neck and Original trembucker bridg) and was wondering about the pickup height. Wich pickup height in (mm measured from the strings to the top of the pup) do you use with these pickups? I know its a personal preference matter but I need examples to start messing with this.. directions would be nice.. how it affects sustain and tone and these kind of things. Thanks

What will improve my tone most, new pups or a new speaker in my amp? I know there are more variables than I can list that could affect the answer, but here's some info that will help anyone willing to help me out here.
