I'm look for a guitar that gets me at least in the ball park -soundwize- of a Les Paul but that has (most importantly) a strat-style bridge (does'nt matter if it's vibrato or not).
I find it difficult to change between the two.

Epiphone Les Paul
Ok, I've never really gone for Les Pauls as I've always been a Strat style man. However, after recently playing my singers Epi Les Paul Custom I've now got serious GAS for one. The options above show which one's I can get good deals on and/or the ones that appeal so your collective knowledge and opinions will be gratefully received. I would especially like any opinions on the Boneyard (since it is quite different to the other Pauls).

Les Paul pickup shootout (BBs, PGs, JBs)
Ok, it's late but since I was trying out these JBs in my LP Studio, I thought I'd do clips of them. The AC/DC riff starts off w/the bridge p/u volume backed off and then tuns up fully, the SRV debacles are both p/u together and the single note wanking at the end is the neck only.

Pickups that cut through really well.
What are your impressions of pickups that cut through in the mix really well just because of their basic design? Lets not do just the high output or hot pickups, lets make sure we include a lot of vintage style pickups.

Jerry Donahue vs. Hot (stl-2)
I have a Hwy 1 tele (stock) and i like the neck pickup, but i really dislike the bridge pickup.
It is too steely and harsh.

New Edwards Les Paul (Dark Purple Satin)
I was planning on ordering two Edwards about two months back, but decided not to go with the Explorer since someone else will be building me one and the dealer didn't have the Les Paul I wanted. They are in stock, but I still can't decide between two of the les pauls, and these just came out too:

THE strat upgrade thread
O.K Guys. We need a fault worthy thread for STRAT HARDWARE upgrade's. Sure, we have tone/pickups threads, bodies/neck threads, what about the other fella's they tend to get alittle over looked? Saddles. Tromelo's. Tuners. Nuts. Caps?
Gimmie a list of the best of the best!! That way, we can reduce the ' what should i upgrade my strat too' basic questions. If we have all the best stuff listed, should stop to many questions hehehe

I suppose that title could sound wrong in hindsight, so I'll just forget about it and move on.

Mesa/Boogie Single Rectifier series 1?
Hey guys been a while since ive posted, but i just bought a single recto on ebay. Its the series 1. I was wondering if the tone is significantly different/worse? Ive heard the clean isnt as good as series 2 but thats not my main concern (my band is more of a thrash band thats why i sold my marshall dsl in the first place) anyways what are the main differences? no raw mode on channel two isnt a big deal too, cause when i demo'd the single in guitar center raw and pushed were very similar. Anyways thanks in advance for replies - Andrew

String Height?
I recently set my string height a little lower for quicker playing but I was wondering if anybody knew an exact way to set string heights as far as lowest possible action without fret buzz and what not. If so what can it be measured with and what not. I play an American Standard strat with stock saddles if that helps any. I will be switching out with some graphtech saddles soon so I'm really worried about putting those on and not being able to get my action set.

Charvel 25th Anniversary #49
I really hate to be doing this, but I need to pay bills and eat so my Charvel 25th Anniversary Strat (#49 of 86) is going up on the block. I don't have any pics at the moment, but most of you here should be familar with them (see for more info). The guitar is in excellent to near mint condition with virtually zero playing wear (less than 20hrs total play time). I purchased the guitar in Dec 2004 and I still have all of the original paperwork and hang tag. The original Gamp;G HSC will also be included.

Quick question for builders: 2 and 3 piece joining.
On 2 and 3-piece bodies, are the pieces just butted together and glued? Do they generally use dowels, or quot;biscuitsquot;, or tongue-and-groove? Any of those techniques, or just a straight, flat butt?

PAF 58,59,And 60 Pickup Magnets?
Other than the earliest magnets being a bit wider than the later ones according to the book quot;Beauty Of The Burstquot;,is it quite possible that one of these LPs could have had an A2 bridge pickup and an A3,A4.or A5 in the neck or vice versa?

New to P-90's... A little help?
What are my options with P-90's? If I am looking for a traditional humbucker sound... is this even an option? The guitar is a very clean Gibson ES-137, so I do not want to make any permanent changes. The pickups are stock and there is plenty of room underneath to replace with a stacked pu if desired.

JB on quot;People Get Readyquot;?
I'm talking about the Jeff Beck/Rod Stewart song. I know he's playing a Tele in the video, but I've never heard one sound like that. It sounds very much like a humbucker. Is that the JB?
