I have a 76 Les Paul Deluxe. The tone has always been a bit murky for my tastes. Also, it feeds back terribly at high volumes. I've read some suggestions about replacing the pots to improve a muddy sound. Would this help feedback as well?

This file wasn't created as a forum jam per se, but it might fill the bill. I like to make simple little quot;jamsquot; that I use when I'm just messing around with distortion and effects and such. They're generally just basic repetitive drum loops, with repetitive bass lines, with repetitive rythm guitar parts, that I make to develop quot;leadsquot; to. They're fun . . . for me, at least.

I just purchased an American Tele off of e-bay that has Fender Vintage Noiseless PU's in the neck and middle, and some kind of Tele bridge pu. The guy I bought it from bought it that way and doesn't know what it is.

It seems that every humbucking guitar sound I've liked lately has been old guitars - Pagey on How the West was Won (old LP), Johnny Marr on Boomslang (60's SG), Angus on If You Want Blood (another 60's SG). So, I've decided to try a pair of 59's as my first shot a tonal nirvana in my Schecter PT.

Just did a temp swap with Dave, my 8.2k Broadcaster for his Jerry Donahue. Got the pup in and I'm really enjoying it. I'm still tweaking my single coil presets on the Vox since they were dialed in for the BC. There is a night and day difference between the Broadcaster and the JD. The JD is SMOOOTH, warm and even. It almost sounds like there is a natural compression to the tone. The Broadcaster has got BALLS though, but you really have to have the right neck to mate with it. Suprisingly the stock neck in my Tele works very well when combined. I've got a 4 way to add Series/Parallel and the #2 is one of the sweetest clean tones I've ever heard. #4 is almost like a P90. The stock neck by itself is so-so though. The only problem that I have with the BC is that I do have to roll off the highs a bit when playing it by itself. When I switch to any of the combined or neck only positions I end up having to roll the tone back up to full so as to not mud up the sound. I think that a good mate for the BC would be a '54 neck. Now the JD in the #2 and 4 pos is almost too warm, but when played by itself there is no need to roll back the tone. Great pup! And I imagine when paired with the right neck would be incredible.

I have a Les Paul type guitar with a 24 3/4quot; scale neck. It plays well but on about the 18th fret, the high quot;Equot; string sounds bad. It actually sounds like I'm playing one fret higher. The other positions are good and the other strings are goo on that fret. What should I do? I'm not used to doing fret work and I would rather do this myself. The guitar is very nice save for the really crappy pickups...

I am interested in getting new pups for my 335 w/ 57 classics. The pups sound very dry for some reason. I do have a cap on the volume to prevent loss of highs (could this have anything to do with it?). So I am considering SD Antiquitys or possibly some Wagner Crossroads, or Darkburst pups. The guitar is pretty well balanced acoustically, but notes seem to jump out of the guitar with minimal bloom. I am using a Victoria 20112 (tweed Deluxe clone).

Highway1 strat, mapleneck and alderbody, Gotoh bridge and one stringtree removed.

Guys I just want to know if it okay to play guitar with skin products like petrolatum, mineral oil stuff on my hands. I have to deal with this as my skin different from normal peoples' skin. I need keep my fingers from drying out as they hurt sometimes, get chapped, or even bleed. I don't know if that kind of stuff is bad for my strings, neck, or any part of guitar I touch. Oh before playing I usually let the stuff soak in my skin or dry out, so my hands are not sticky when I play.

Hi any recommendations for amp? For the budget of USD150. I am playing punk rock. And a reasonable amp of about 15w is pretty enough. I heard of Laney amps they are used by paul gilbert. And beringher too... Marshall? Yeah.. Your help would really be appreciated!

I just bought a black single cut '01 Gibson LP special, and it has a Bluesdawg in it. All I can say is WOW!!!! Its a wonderful new tonal color addition to my '87 junior with a Fralin 15% overwound. p-90's kick so much @ss!

i wanna swithc these duncan desgined detonators to some real duncans, i want something with a good clean sound but also a pretty good distorted sound. i want to be able to lplay more classic rock and GNR type songs and definatly some nirvana with them, and i want a good clean sound on it. any suggestions for a neck and bridge pickup combination for what i need in my jackson RR3

hey , i placed a custom pick up sh-5 i like it alot sounds good and is pretty zebra . i have a les paul standard epiphone the ones that is about 499$ in musicians friend i love it for personal reasons. i had an ibanez gio pretty but chepear it costed about 250$ but i injected an emg pick up. the diference was just amazing very brigth clear and higher out put ok here is my great doubt please help me on this one ok the emg brings a volume and tone whit it and that helps alot and the seymour doesnt so i though that because the volume and tone from my les paul arent so good cuality i aint getting the 100% from my seymour sh-5 . am i wrong????????
