When selecting cells, Excel sometimes will not recognize the quot;end of
selectionquot; mouse click. The selection field continues to move with the mouse
or touchpad motion regardless of any other entry. The only way to finish the
selection is by killing the application with the Program Manager. When I do
this, I get one message saying that I can't Stop Excel, and when I say OK to
that, another popup shows that Excel has stopped responding. There seems to
be no correlation between the file I'm editing and whether or not this
problem will occur. Any solutions for this?
I experienced similar problems when accessing networked drives. Just as an
experiment, if you have mapped networked drives, try closing them and see if
the hang-ups disappear.

Unfortunately, this didn't solve the problem. I have a few networked drives,
but they were/are all disconnected, and the problem still occurs. I suspect
it's some kind of mouse driver issue, but it only appears to affect Excel.
Thanks for the suggestion!
