The time for change is nigh my friends. I've been playing EL84 based amps for a lot of years, and the bark of plexi Marshalls is calling to me again. I'm going to have an amp built ot my specs, and for now I have a nice vintage head to pull rig duties.

i am about to enter the realm of owning tube amps. i have never owned one, dont know anyone too well that owns one, the only expiriences ive had with them are playing them in the store, and reading about them. so i would appreciate some pointers on taking care of it. what are some no- no's? what are some yes- yes's? jsut a general quot;howquot; to be nice to my amp. i dont have it yet, but it will be a mesa f- 50 head with a buzzbomb 2x12 cab. thanks for any advice.

to go with a custom bridge for a balanced hi-fi ceramic set ?
I have tried a 59 and found that bass were muddy under gain , not enough mids made the p-u a bit not punchy .

This is my first post here so go easy on me. I'm very interested in the new STK-S4. I have read all the threads concerning this pickup and I have a few comments and questions. Lewguitar has stated that he feels these pickups cop 85% of the true single coil vibe. quot; The guy who invented Firequot; preferred them to Kinmans, Lawrence L280 and the older (lame) Fender vintage noiseless. To me these are slightly contradictory observations. I owned a set of Lawrence L280's and I feel they already had 85% of the vintage vibe. I missed the other 15% and I sold them (I currently use SS1's). I recently tried the new Fender SCN pickups (designed by Lawrence) and found them to be much closer - maybe 90% of the way. I would put the latest efforts of Kinman, Dimarzio and Lawrence in the 90-95% range. My observation is if the S4's sound more authentic than Kinmans they should cop AT LEAST 95% of the vintage tone. When I hear the mids are quot;thickerquot; and the highs are quot;warmerquot; I start to think of all the shortcomings of the other noiseless strat pickups I've heard. In particular, none of them I tried had the right amount of sparkle, or they didn't have enough quack when combined, or the neck pickup was lacking that specific combination of warm bass, hollow mids and treble sheen that I love so dearly. So whats the scoop? Do they provide authentic sparkle, quack, percussive attack and any other adjective that can be used to describe a good single coil? Are these pickups really a step above whats already available?

Has anyone seen a store online or otherwise that has the new Classic 30 heads?

Hey Tele Gurus, I'm building another Tele (it's an addiction!), and lately I've really been getting into Clarence White. He's got such a great tone, as heard on the Nashville West and Byrds Live at the Fillmore CDs. Can anybody recommend pickups to approximate his tone? To me it's classic Tele, but not ice picky - it's a warm, snappy sound with a lot of growl and twang. The Tele I'm building is the classic formula - swamp ash and maple with nitro finish.
Thank you for any help!

an EL34 or a 6L6? IIRC the EL34 does, meaning a 6L6 running in an amp biased for EL34 will burn up faster, and an EL34 running in a 6L6 amp will be running quot;coldquot;, right?

convert .wav files to mp3?I FINALLY managed to figure out how to record some stuff with my stupid PODXTL (I don't have recording software apparently, and Line 6 wanted a 100 bucks or something to subscribe to rifftracker? screw that). Anyhoo I set the XTL as my default and then used windows sound recorder...clips sound pretty good on headphones but theres a bit of background noise and a little clipping (mainly cos I don't know what I'm doing yet ). Oh and some crappy playing.
