Anhone here use Duncans for Van Halen type music? If so, what pup and could you post a clip? I'd like to hear it?

I'm having trouble deciding what pickup I want for User Group Day. I'm getting a bridge position humbucker for a Charvel. I like Van Halen and Dokken's guitar sound, so I'm thinking of a mix of a Screamin Demon and an EVH. Here's what I'm planning:
Black uncovered trembucker spaced EVH with barely mismatched coils, hex polepieces on slug side, an aged Alnico 2 magnet, aged Antiquity bobbins, with single conductor braided shield cable.

The neck position is naturally mellow, the bridge position naturally bright. When you pick your pups for those positions, do you tend to choose something that accents that quality, or compensates for it? Do you want a bright pup for the bridge, or mellow? Same with neck.

I installed the single coils in my strat, and i followed the diagram, easy job. Black to grounds and white to selector. Now, every position works, but when I switch it to the neck spot, it seems to be humcancelling and it sounds almost identical to the bridge position. I know something is not right. When I select the neck pickup, I can control the tone with the tone control and the same is true for the bridge pickup, but all the positions are humming. Would bad wiring to the ground cause this? Becuase I know the soldering to the selector is perfect, but could this be caused by bad soldering to the back of the volume knob? HELP!
