I put 2 Alnico 2's in my les Paul and I'm not happy, they're not really versatil enough for my taste. I wanted to know what your opinions are about the most versatile pickup combo to go into an Epi Les Paul. It'll be leaning more towards hard rock and metal, but I would still like to have a nice clean sound especially in the neck for times when I wanna play something along the lines of Hendrix. I don't hvae any effects except for a wah and i use a Marshall AVT100.

Let me know if you got anything. I can't spend too much right now, so i'm not really looking for a 1600 watt, all-tube monster, but something enough to play in a band. I also have lots of things to offer for trade.

Does anyone here use or have any experience with this kind of setup? I'm not just talking about pedals with tubes in that are designed to be pre-amps (such as the V-twin) but more along the lines of solid-state pedals (DS-1, TS-9, SD-1, OD-1, GE-7).
