Dead JB screw coil
Hey all. I've been lurking around these forums and finally decided to join. Seems like a good bunch of people here. Anyway, here's my problem. I have a JB humbucker with a dead screw coil. The slug measures something like 8.03k DC resistance but I get nothing on the screw coil. I'm thinking that there is a break somewhere inside because when I first opened it up, one of the leads was not connected to the end of one of the coil windings so I reattached it but still no reading.

New amp content: VHT Pitbull 45
Well, the new amp got here today. I traded my Mesa Rectoverb straight across for a VHT Pitbull 45. My initial thoughts: GREAT TRADE! It's already apparent that this amp suits my style much better than the Mesa. The cleans are much better, more open and 3D. The gain is much smoother and fuller sounding. It's definitely a different character though, as it's an EL84 based amp vs. the 6L6 Mesa. I also definitely prefer running this amp in Class A mode over Class A/B.

What do i need for small gig..
Okay, my band got offered a gig, for $500 AUD. We're planning on doing a few practise gigs at youth groups before this of course, but they have the equipment. For this gig, we would of course need the equipment. Its over 80 16 year olds. I'm pretty sure the peavey classic 30 i'm buying could handle this size gig without pa system. But how many watts shopuld the bass amp be, and do we need a PA system for such a small gig? Will the drums need any assistance or can they just be unmiked. As for vocals, would we will be able to run the mike through a amp such as a roland cube 15 etc. what amp would you suggest for this? or perhaps a speaker or something, I don't know much about vocals.

Am I crazy?
So for a couple years now I've had 2 Les Paul Customs. One is a sunburst and the other black. I always thought i wanted one but lately they're just not doing it for me. They sound great but soloing is a bit of a pain as access to the 17th fret and higher is a bit limited because of the thickness of the set neck joint. I've been thinking for some time to sell them both and take that money and put it towards either another guitar or maybe upgrading my amp or buying another amp. Am I crazy? I seem to want to play my two American BC Riches more than my Les Pauls. Just looking for second opinions on this.

Building your own amp from a kit
Do any of you guys have any positive experiences with buying amp kits from places such as Torres or others? Are the kits decent in quality and sound? Also are the instructions clear enough for an amature to follow? I have always loved taking things apart and putting stuff together and I think it would be fun to build my own some day. I am hoping that Scott F will chime in here.

Custom Custom
So I bought a Hamer Monaco Elite off of e-bay recently. (great guitar!) It has duncan Custom Custom in the bridge and a Custom in the neck. I never had tried a custom custom before.

which od/dist pedal sounds the best???
I still couldn't decide which od/dist to get because they're unavailable here and I can't directly test them...I really need your help guys, currently I'm using line6 DM-4 stompbox into a 79' twin reverb using a dynacomp for boosting DM-4,I can get warmamp;full OD tones so no problem there...I just want a good quality pedal that gets me a mix of ODamp;Dist...I wonder if I should get a pedal with a real preamp tube in it if it makes a huge difference than IC ones?my playing style is mainly (hard)rockamp;blues...I'm not much into metal etc...but I'd like to get metallica amp; guns'n'roses tones...so which one could suit me best???

The unthinkable...Triple Coil...
Anyone ever played around with this idea? I had a Strat 20 years ago that was a true Test Bed X-Guitar if ever there was one. Did all kinds of crazy things with it:
