well...i dunno if this is a subjetive thing also, like which tone is best suited for everyone...

but which amp brand do you consider to make their models bright-oriented?? there is even such that thing?? imo, i haven´t played any 100 watt model amp (marshall tcm 900, mesa rectos, peavey triple xxx, bogner ecstasy and uberschall) that gave me that impression...but thats me...what do you think guys?

i guess the marshalls would tend to be brighter than the others that use 6l6's. Do you like tons of features or do you prefer a simple 1 channel setup?

If you like a simple marshall route and have room to crank, a 1987x RI would be good, or one of the new handwireds. Marshall is known for that upper mid brightness that makes the tone clear but on the gainey side at the same time.

I don't know about anyone else, but to me it seems that amps with 6L6's or 6V6's are brighter that their british counterparts.

Brightness can be very bad, but when I look at amps I'm interested in seeing how bright they can get and still sound good. I do this because I can always darken and amp but an amp can only get so bright. I think brightness has has a link to touch sensitivity and dynamics.

i already have one dual recto...so...tons of features then ....and...the thing is that my ears listen to a lot of tones but i don´t think this is a brigth amp... people tell me that mesas and peaveys are bright amps...the only thing i found trebly on this amp is the third channel (the new one, that tend to be quot;the riff from hell - all is from hell, of course - machinequot;...and i have to turn the highs back to 4 or 5 and raise the mids up to 6 or 7...but in general...this amp sounds very bassy...maybe i´m just wrong with the term bright...

My laney is bright, and nobody can argue. Even with the treble at 2 and the presence at 0...

The Hamp;K Puretone I tried was on the bright side. I would also say that most silverface Fenders I've tried (aside from Bassmans) are bright.

I have to dial my Rectoverb's lead channel treble and bass down and the mids up to get a good tone, and it's a unique tone that I really like. It's the exact opposite of what you would think, an upside-down quot;Vquot; if you saw it on a graphic eq. The clean channel is completely different. The entire Recto series is bright in the lead channel, IMO.

Blackface Fenders are bright, hence the quot;sparklequot; that you hear about. I roll the presence way back and they sing. Is there a better clean sound than an old Fender? Not to my ears.

Yep. There is a dark clean channel, but for the most part, all the other channels do have some inherit brightness to them.

A lot of Fenders I've played can get very bright (as others have mentioned).

I love bright cleans and dark overdriven tones myself There are situations where I might prefer a darker and warmer clean, but bright usually works for my type of music.

A lot of Class A stuff can be bright as well. Matchless makes some very bright and chimey amps.

Several Class A amps are bright, but the brightness comes with even order harmonics, so that they sound really nice. Not the icepick type of thing. Some I've checked out:

Bogner Metropolis (I own one)
Tophat Royale
Matchless Lightning 15

The Badcats tend to be darker, but very cool sounding.
The Marshall 18 watt is rather smooth, not as bright as the ones above.

Fender Amps are generally brighter than a lot of others. Marshalls I find to have a very big bottom, but I have rarely played thru a Marshall that I would describe as bright. A Fender Twin or a Deluxe Reverb with Single coils can be Ice Pick bright. Like a Tele Thru a Twin. It can be very loud, very clean and very bright.
