Which pedal (overdrive/distortion) would give me the closest tone of Ritchie Blackmore in the 80's period of Rainbow (think live between the eyes) or the 90's period (deep purple come hell or high water and rainbow stranger in us all)? Pedal can be with tube or not also modded, just tell me which would be the best to use with SS amp (i know that tube amp is almost 99% needed but i am curious) and with tube amp.

You should try a Boss pedal, or maybe a tonebone, those are the best options i can give you...

OK, I belive that you mean on Hot British tonebone But which Boss pedal for ex.?

I went to the BOSS home page and listen the samples of pedals and the most i like is SD1, Super Overdrive, but i'm afraid that it would not sound like that. I don't have money to experiment so i`m asking you guys because you have a lot more experience then me. Thanks

ive tried the SD1, its good, u get nice hard tone, BUT, i wouldnt recomend it unless u have a GOOD amp, i havent listened to 80s Ritchie Blackmore, but i use a Rat2, and its great for gettin that hard rock tone.

Try some Marshall pedals like the Govn'r or Jackhammer, since you're trying to stay close to the price of a Boss. A strat's bridge pickup with the treble rolled down a little is likely to get you close.

Closest I've come to copping blackmore tones is with the POD XT Live alot of tweaking and the Malmsteen strat.

Ritchie's tone is a tough one. Sounds simple to get, but IME, isn't.

I`m planing to spend up to 100 euro at max for distortion...I have strat with hs-3 and yjm pups because of hum-canceling and it can capture blackmore to the some extent on their own so i am looking for distortion...i don't have good amp and money is very limiting i have Marshall MG 15 at home and when i play somewhere it depends on organization what they will bring but usually there are SS amps. Any one has some more ideas

Then I'd most likely go with a Marshall ped like GJ recommended. None of the BOSS models, in my experience are gonna do what ya need (at least unmodded).

Hmm...so all in all you guys are recommend me Jackhammer (i saw spina review about jackhammer so i belive it's good pedal, that man know about pedals alot). As i say i'am tring to nail 80's tone and 90's tone of blackmore but with my own sound ofcourse but i want something similar to blackmore's sound. I also like his tone on last album stranger in us all so if i could capture that sound i would be happy
