OK how would I find out who endorsed the DCJ pups I've been playing since the mid '80's? To clarify, I remember that when I purchased the pups way back then, when I had hair, they were the quot;So and So'squot; model, like Eric Clapton or David Gilmore endorsed - some big player and for the life of me I can't remember. Why you ask - because it made a big difference - the ones I have are simply Great! Amazing! I want more - I have 3 or 4 of these in various guitars and nothing compares!
Seymour - you are God-like ! Thank you for years of making my sound quot;too hip for the roomquot; !
Dav - Guitar-Buster
Fender F-hole Tele (year???), 2 Dean Bel Aire's, Yamaha Weddington Custom ....
I have a DDJ with someone told me it is a Duncan Distortion wound by Juanita or Juarez , some mexican woman at Duncan .
If you wanted to know what the letters mean .
It's simply a Duncan Custom wound by MJ. That's what those letters mean. Now, as to who endorsed it back then, well, lots of players did.
It seems like every Duncan was wound by MJ back in the 80's. I've bought four old pickups wound by her in the past year.
Maricella is the unsung hero of Rock 'n Roll.
I remember vividly, I found a sticker that read quot;DC Jquot; on the bottom of a Custom that was installed on a 1983 Gibson Flying V I bought second-hand.
Thus began my life-long appreciation of all things Seymour....
No, not every pup in 80ies was wound by MJ. I have a JB-M ;-)
Hey y'all, I'm new here, great forum....my late 80's custom also says DCJ (thanks for clearing that up), the letters are stamped in blue ink, and under that is the letter quot;rquot; written in pen, and the quot;waxquot; covers it all, so it must have been written at the factory. And btw, who is this MJ i keep reading about? Sounds like quite the master winder!
mj is maricella juarez ... knows more about pickup making then all but about 3 people on the planet, as near as i can tell ... she runs the custom shop at SD and has been with seymour for a LONG LONG time ... she was very sweet and kind and welcoming at UGD, then strictly quot;no nonsensequot; once folks got into the custom shop to work with her making their custom creations ... she is not much more than 5' tall and everyone who has ever dug the tone of guitar hero owes her a debt of gratitude
great lady

Thanks... funny, now I'm wondering what that hand written quot;rquot; is on the sticker.. anyone know?
