so im thinking i might get this amp but recently i read on a review or on an old topic on this forum it doesnt really sound as good with a 4x12 Cab as it does with a 2x12 cab for some odd reason, anyone know anything about this?
Doesn't seem right to me. I imagine it was the quot;makequot; of the cab and the speakers that were the difference. If you have a well made cab and good speakers, I can't imagine it not sounding fuller with a 4x12.
hmm, alright cool.. well i play on getting a mesa traditional 4x12 sometime for it, should sound pretty killer
The better the cab, the better the whole rig sounds. A Mesa cab is a great choice for that amp. I read that the reason Satriani loves the idea of having a signature amp is that he can go anywhere in the world, and Peavey will have one waiting for him. He's also been endorsed by Bogner, and probably pushed Peavey to copying it as much as possible. His main amps have usually been 30th Ann. Marshalls. If Satriani put his name on the Peavey, and can have one waiting in any city where he doesn't want to cart his rig, it can't be that bad of an amp.
alright, im just starting to wonder if it can pull off really heavy metal stuff like a children of bodom type of heavyness like the XXX can
I saw exodus usin em....CHUNKY tone. I was blown away.
hmm, is that all they were using? any more details on this?
Yeah, it'll do the XXX thing fine. It'll just sound better doing it.

True. The JSX can do everything the XXX can do, only it can do it better, and it can do more.
Children of bodom is more of a marshally tone, i tried the jsx and i wasnt that impressed, it didnt have the balls that my 5150 has, it sounded good and certainly more gainy sounding than my 5150 but it didnt impress me as much as i had hoped, i fail to beleive that satriani actually uses that amp, ive seen him on the cornford website, having played a few cornford amps the same time as i tried the Jsx id say that he doesnt use the JSX it sounds way too extreme metal for him and the cornford sounded perfect for satch, the Jsx just sounded nothing like satches tone, and i played for a while, the cornford had it there almost as soon as i turned it on.
Not saying that the Jsx isnt a bad amp though, its awesome no doubt, but id take a 5150 10 times out of 10.
