The setup consists of a lil59 neck, duckbucker mid and jbjr bridge. When i use position 2 3 4 output drops considerably. I reversed the duckbucker wires and still the same results. Is this loss of out put normal for this type of setup. Pos 3 is a bit louder but only about half of 1 or 5. Any body tried this setup yet?
Thanks

i honestly cant remember if the duck has 4 wires or 2 ... if there are 4, did you connect the red and white wires of the duck together and tape them off? ... then use green to ground and black to the switch?

the other thing is that you really have to raise the duck close to the strings to get best performance ...

the only other thing i can think of is a dodgy solder joint on hot or ground

any of this helping?

good luck

ps - (you have to connect and tape off the red/white on the jbjr too .. and the lil59 too)

A Duckbucker is definitely two wires only. Its the same as a Vintage Rails, which is internally wired in parallel.

I'm trying to think what else could cause that problem besides phase.

Edit: A Duckbucker is lower output than a Lil 59, or a JB Jr. I wonder if this is normal. Although, I wouldn't think you'ld get the loss at #2 and #4.

Hopefully someone else who has tried this will chime in.

Yes it is two wires and a shield and I don't think it should cut the volume of the other pickups in 2 or 4. Reversing the two wires makes no difference. The pots and switches are all 2005 stock. Maybee I'll eat the loss and get another four wire for the mid, I just don't have a clue as to what to get to complement the jbjr and the lil59. I'm a begginer trying some blues stuff and clapton.
THanks

I put a DuckBucker in the middle between a Cool Rails bridge and a Hot Rails neck, and it sounded very quot;quackyquot; in positions 2, 3 and 4. Kinda unusual because it sounded very quacky all by itself:

from : localhost/might look into something like a hot stack or vintage stack for the middle pickup, just as a change of pace from the jbjr and lil59. Or go with a hot rails or cool rails. I think that with the Duckbucker in the middle you lose a lot of versatility since the 3 middle positions basically sound the same.

Check with SD to see if you can exchange the Duckbucker...
