Yes, as most of you probably know, I recently acquired a Marshall JCM900 2500 50 watt Hi Gain Master Volume head, but before I bought it, I was gassing for the Laney tony iommi signature amp, and I actually only bought the Marshall because I couldn't afford the Laney, and now I'm gassing for the Laney again.. if I haven't bought the Marshall, I would have been able to afford the Laney now, and it's bumming me out

Pearly Gates and Phat Cat combo
My search for replacememt pups on an SG Standard continues....I've been looking to really get a big, crunchy, vintage sound, that sounds great clean as well as dirtied up. I've received all types of recommendations and one that stood out was combining a Pearly Gates neck with a Phat Cat bridge (or vice versa). Anyone try this? I also wouldn't be opposed to marrying another PAF-style pup with the Phat Cat, but it does seem like Pearly can bring me closest to that hallowed Rev. Gibbons crunchy blues sound.

Blackburn Mullard ECC83 amp; ECC81
Three Mullard ECC83/12ax7's labeled quot;Fisherquot; and one ECC81/12at7 labeled quot;Daystromquot; I have no way of testing them, but they all work and were all tested to be good when I bought them within the last year.
The Daystrom was matched for a phase inverter.

Whats the difference between my pickup and a PAF?
Right now I use a 1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom. It has stock pickups, so what pickups would it have in it? How would they sound compaired to a Gibson PAF?
