Hey guys, some of you may have seen my thread about deciding to build a warmoth baritione in the pickup lounge, but I'm also looking to explore all alternatives before I jump into the afterparts trap. I know that ESP, Schecter, and Gibson/Epiphone make some nice baritones but I'm looking for all avenues, perhaps I can get some good suggestions for others.

Wondering......
Can anyone tell me what the best pickups would be for a Strat? I'm in the middle of quot;updatingquot; my Fender Squier Standard Strat and I don't know exactly what type of pickup I should look into. I want a certain quot;soundquot; in the vein of Jimi Hendrix, but I DON'T want quot;stackedquot; single coils, and I would prefer a reverse wound pattern for all three positions. I was told the APS series from SD was my best bet, but I also want to have an quot;originalquot; tone. Can anyone help???

Ultimate Chorus Buzz
So I was at guitar center today, and I came across a Fender Ultimate Chorus for 140 dollars. The speakers had been replaced, but I plugged a guitar into it, and the clean sounded great on it, it was lound, and it seemed like a good deal. Anyway, I got it home, and I realized that there's a buzz on the distortion channel that grows when I turn up the gain, or the volume. This isn't a normal distortion buzz, it makes the amp unusable.

Help I am out of phase!!!
Just got a new Lollar Blackface Strat neck pickup to go in my Squier '51. Well, the new Lollar is out of phase with the stock bridge humbucker. What do I have to do to fix it? Can I just switch the wire on the single coil pickup or do I have to flip the magnet over? If so, please give me some directions.(The Squier 51 is a really cool cheap guitar BTW, here is a link to it from : localhost/www.squierguitars.com/product...tno=0325100507

Less expensive gear doesn't always save you money
There's a great deal of focus placed on price in a lot of threads. There's nothing wrong with being concerned about price--money doesn't grow on trees. Some of us don't have regular jobs while others have houses, kids, etc. taking up their paychecks.
Though the approach quot;I have $X, what's the 'best' guitar/amp/etc. I can get for that amount?quot; is a recipe for immediate gratification, I'm not confident that it provides either satisfaction or reduced gear costs over the long term. All too often, I've seen folks (including myself) who economize on gear end up selling off their quot;bargainquot; gear at a significant loss only to buy what they really wanted in the first place. Talk about wasted money!

Theodie is the MAN!
Just got my strat body back from Dave today, he routed out the neck spot to fit a humbucker for me. He also said he was going to replace the shielding where he routed, but he re-shielded the WHOLE damn body for me! Oh yeah, and the route is perfectly done too . Not to mention I got the body back in less than a week after sending it out. Dave's a top notch guy who does top notch work, thanks again bro!AWESOME! I already knew theodie was kool though... he just never stops.

Correct les paul wiring?!
Guys, I installed four 500-520k CTS pots, one .022 Hovland, one .022 Mallory in my LP and am using standard LP wiring. Any thoughts on going to a set up that will disconnect the cap or tone pot - I hear this really opens up the tone with pickups wound 14 - 17k?
