I`m looking for a single coil pickup for the neck position of a Strat , alder body, maple neck and single 500k volume control. The bridge pickup is a Blues Trembucker so I`m looking for something that would match up well with it but I don`t usually play with the toggle in the middle position. Thanks!!!!

A buddy of mine is looking to learn a bit more about the gear side of things, and will be purchasing his first electric after years of playing acoustic exclusively. He plays and records neo-folk and alt-country almost exclusively and I've been helping to talk him through some of his options, but I'd like to be able to point his towards a fairly succint and clear breakdown of they types of pickups out there (in really broad strokes...Humbuckers vs. Strat/Tele single coils vs. P90s...etc.). Does anyone know of an online primer that sets forth these issues in such a fashion. I know enough to answer his questions and I've given him a rough idea of what's what, but a centralized knowledge base would be useful for him, I think.

i want to put a new pickup in the bridge of my les paul classic b/c the 500T is to too hot for me..it has no clarity to it...

ok heres my problem. i have a fender american deluxe v neck strat and setting it up like fender recommends makes pedal steel bending impossible. ive looked at products like the trem setter etc but they dont address my main problem. i have no use for a floating trem and because i play .012s and/or .013s i have to put 5 springs on the trem and pull the claw tight so the back of the bridge plate is being pulled against the top of the body.heres a picture of how its set up now: from : localhost/community.webshots.com/photo/...23979735aOlHUs i DO use the tremolo (down only) so blocking it is not something im looking to do. im thinking it would be better to just have a tech replace the tremolo because i really love this guitar but are there any other things i can do before i have someone carve it up?

I've seen two variations of these pickups. I am thinking about ordering some of these. I'd like to know if anyone here has used them and how they sound overall.

It's not a volume issue is it between the two, rather the 2x12 produces a better, fuller tone than the 1x12?

Anyone have experience with a Custom Custom in the bridge of a Les Paul? I recently played a Godin LG Signature series with a Custom Custom that was specially designed by SD for Godin, and I really liked the warm tone it had. Not shrill or piercing, just smooth. The Custom Custom should sound similar in my Les Paul, right?

I'm craving the midrange honk that a Strat style guitar ain't giving me. I tried a Gibson Flying V yesterday and it was surprisingly comfortable to play while sitting down. The only thing that'll take getting used to is the glossy neck. What options do I have besides Gibson? If I was rich I'd get a custom V with a maple Explorer neck finished like Zakk Wylde's Les Paul neck. I must get Michael Denner's lead tone from Mercyful Fate's quot;Don't Break the Oathquot; cd. So it's time to change the tubes in the 50watt beast of mine. I bought the amp preowned so I'm assuming the tubes have been changed before (but I guess I shouldn't assume anything). Anyways, I've never changed them. Do I need to have somebody do it or are they pretty much plug-and-play? I know the preamp tubes are Mesa 6L6's. I've heard good things about EL34's but I'm not sure? I do know my amp has the nifty bias switch though. Basically when it comes do it, I'm clueless. What do I buy? Where do I buy them? How much are we talkin'? Andddd can I put'em in myself?

I have a 4 way mod switch for my tele which has a JD in the bridge and a tele alnico 2 pro single coil in the neck with cover.

I Have A Warlock with Duncan Invaders and Pearly Gates and was thinking about trading it in along with my digitech effects pedal (120$ model) and wanted to know how much i could probably get for it.

Im thinking of fitting my strat with a SD 59'er pickup at the neck,a SD JB JR pickup at the mid and a SD SHR-1 hot rail pickup at the bridge.

I play rhythm in a hard rock band, i.e. 95% of the time I'm sawing off on power chords (which is fine with me). Up until now I've been using Ernie Ball Super Slinkys on my '93 Peavey Predator but I feel like changing to something heavier.
Any suggestions?

I'm planning on replacing the stock pickups in my Schecter 006. I'm pretty much set on the Jazz in the neck, but I'm split between the JB and the Custom in the bridge.
