An alnico 5 stagger wound Jazz rated at 9.5k. 5k screw coil, 4.5k slug.
Don't know if it will sound any good though. Any thoughts?
You mean scatter wound?
I think that it wil sound good when split or in parallel, but I'm not sure how it wil sound in standard series operation.

Some desings can't sound good even they are made by masters...
Well now, this is actually the pickup I'll be winding for User Group Day. It'll hardly be wound by a quot;masterquot;. It'll be wound my me.
I've been experimenting with the PG I just bought. Here's the thing about stagger winds...
it will add more rudeness and sizzle to the top end IF the overwound coil is closer to the bridge. If it's farther away, like I have it now, it will be slightly warmer. I actually really like the sound of the PG with the overwound coil turned around.

Nope. Stagger wound.
Stagger wound is when one coil of a humbucker is wound hotter than the other. THe coils are staggered.
Scatter wound is...I assume you know, it's in the SD glossary. The winds are scattered, to allow more air to pass between the winds, resulting in more highs.
this really needs to be said...the quot;staggeredquot; coils in a PG DO NOT give it the quot;rude sizzlequot;...that is from MJ her self.

Would that be for the neck or for the brigde? I think for the neck would be too much, too much output and not so much clarity. That it isn't necesary a bad thing, but I personaly don't like it. But on the bridge It'll ROCK!!! Sometimes I find vintage pups (8.5K) a bit low in output and high output (more than 14K) just too much. That 9.5K could the answer...
