I have been checking them out but noticed they are made in japan. I was wondering if they are any good. I like the viper but am not sure about giving $1300 for a guitar made in japan.. So any info you can give me will help out alot.

The word around is that they're excellent quality, equal to MIA counterparts or better. The ones I've tested have been, too. Wait some time and I'll give you a more detailed review when I get mine.

cool can't wait to hear how it is.

ESP is a japanese company. The highest quality ESPs are made there. They are known to be comparable to american jacksons, etc

the esp factory in japan makes really nice guitars. i dont care for the ltd stuff but real esp are pretty nice. $1300 for a mij guitar isnt that bad when you look at a $3000 gretsch

I had two ESPs a KH3 and a Custom based off the KH2. The Custom was an awesome guitar. Played and sounded amazing. Felt great. it was a top notch guitar.

btw the only made-in-america ESPs were those color-changing ones.

They're definetly top-notch quality. all of the true ESP's I've played have been excellent guitars. Including the Dave Mustaine AXXion.

Rock On

I have 2.
Amazing guitars for the money.

I bought one recently and haven't even touched my old guitar since.

i'm tellin you for the money, get the older charvel model 6 with the neck through. for the price and quality, they can't be beat.

and i know you, when (not if, lol) you get tired of it, you won't take near the beating when you sell it like you would buying a brand new esp.

I played one of those big buck George Lynch models and it was good. Personally, I think it could have been a bit better for the money though. I am not dogging it at all though! To be fair, I am more of a Jackson/Charvel fan though!

They ROCK! I like the Eclipse II

clear your messages dan and turn it on

I heard that the early more traditionally styled ESP's like the 400 series, were assembled and set up in New York. Does anyone know where to find more info about the history of those instruments? I 'd really like to find one of the ESP tele style instruments like the Ron Wood model.

They've always been high quality guitars. The LTD stuff is not as high quality as ESP. I've owned a Eclipse ('97) and a V, both excellent guitars!

Not True... ESP used to have a US Custom Shop, IIRC they were on Sunset in LA near everyone else

I personally don´t like ESP, but they make some of the best guitars in the world as far as quality goes.... I just don´t like people ripping others off and then selling their Ideas back as their own originals, often even for a higher price... Thats MY beef with ESP, ´cause they´ve been doing it for 30 years

I've played an ESP explorer. It was bolt on (ESP, not LTD). It seriously played AMAZING. It played as smooth as butter, the EMGs in it were very smooth too. Wow... That was one pleasing experience. The same day I played a Jackson SL2H and it didn't play half as good as that ESP. Though the Jackson hadn't been setup that's true.
