Ok, I have a JB that spent a little while under a cover and then a small amount of time in my Strat. It's nly about 7 or 8 months old and has all of it's wire less the inch that was stripped to wire it up. It's as new and has it's original box and schematic and screws and bezel. Just like new...

I am in the process of wiring two singlecoils and one humbucker, using the diagram from the Kinnman site (One volume, one tone, one 250k NoLoad neck pickup mix control). If I use a 1 meg resistor instead of the 500k as suggested, will I need to alter the pot values? If not, in what way will using the 1 meg affect the tone? I know many people on here are tube purists. I DONT want to hear from you. I am interested in hearing from open minded people who will use anything as long as it sounds good. Now I just played a line 6 Spider 2 head and loved it. Has a lot of useless crap on it but the dist. and clean sounds are quite good. I am poor and this amp sounds wonderful. YES I do like the compressed distortion sound this amp gives. YES I like the effects infested cleans on it. YES I have played it up all the way. Now has anybody played it on here or own one and can give me some sound advice on it and its overall sound?

the title says it all. i find that i cant ever achieve a nice palm muted sound out a single coil...before i finally go out and buy a humbucker to put in my strat i wouldnt mind hearing about a single coil that can do PMs and still sound like a genuine single the rest of the time.

how much difference do they make in a set neck guitar?
since most of the string tension is balanced by the truss rod how does the wood affect the sound?

I've got a '59 Neck humbucker with a nickel/chrome cover. It reads ~7.6k on my meter. Long vintage style 2 conductor leads.

wich pickup would you guys choose for the bridge position on a washburn WI64 idol series guitar...the anderson h3 ,rio grande BBQ,dimarzio breed,duncan custom custom..all all very well spoken of here and on HC.its bin a really tough call as these seem to be the first ones to choose for a really FAT arse sound for a high gain sound.the idol series guitar seems very light,and even thow its body is mohagony,it feels to be on the bright side of things.might just be the crappy stock washburn.for sum unknown and strange reason the neck pickup seems to be the extreme oposite,VERY BASSY.
im putting a duncan 59 in the neck.already have and love the JB in my strat,but wanted something diferent,but with balls!!!question is,which one to choose.never thoght id consider a dimarzio before as i hate the tone zone.

Anybody know what the E-E spacing is on the Parallel Axis humbuckers? Also has anybody experimented with different winds using the Parallel Axis bobbin format - for example a JB Parallel Axis humbucker?

I'm new to the boards and not sure if this is the place to ask. I changed out pichups in a '62 ri strat and now there is too much treble, harshness especially on the bottom (heavier) strings. Even when dragging fingers across strings it seems unusually loud and harsh. Could this be a grounding problem, bad solder, etc.

hi all i earlier posted on a different thread but as the topic kinda morphed i thought id start anew. on monday im having duncans put in an agile 3500 left handed model at rondo music. i have already purchased the jazz neck and jb bridge and monday is the date they install. fyi i have never played a les paul or clone and don't want to lose what is hear is the fuller les paul tone. im a bit afraid after reading up on this site that the jb jazz may give away some of the fullness of the les paul tone...are my fears unfounded? the agile 3500 specs are a mahogany body with a 3/4 inch maple top and an ebony fretboard. they say that this combo may make for a brighter sound to begin with and thats why i'm second guessng my hot humbuckers combo. HELP. as im already stretching my budget (as well as my wifes tolerance level) in getting the 3500 i really cant start paying for different pickups with the assiciated install charges. specifically i was wondering if anybody up here actually uses the jazz/jb combo and can give some feedback. also wanted some comparitive feedback on the jb bridge/59 neck combo...would this help the guitar retain more of a fuller tone as opposted to the jazz neck? how about a config with something and the custom custom? the reason im asking is because i have read posts saying the jb/jazz is great in a strat but not in a less paul type. any feedback and all opinions are welcome...please remember moday is my due date here is the link to the agile/rondo page with the guitars specs with the standard pickups i will be replacing...again thanks all.... from : localhost/here is the rondo agile comparison page if anybody is interested from : localhost/www.rondomusic.net/alspec.html.

Is it possible to get fat sound like a Les Paul humbucker with two Strat pick-ups? If so, how? I'd like to have that sound on the 2amp;4 positions on my strat.
