My new RG321
Hey guys, I bought this RG321 last week. I was GASing for a shredder, and I'm not a big fan of whammy bars, and Sam Ash had that 20% off thing going on, so I just had to buy it. After a good setup, it plays great. Now I just gotta swap those pups.

When they say a speaker cab is wired for Stereo
Does that mean if I have a stereo power amp that I can plug both sides into that one speaker cab? Or will I blow up or something?

Single sized 'buckers...
I've currently got a Livewire Hot for Strat, and like it, but it may be a bit too thin. I'm considering any of the single sized buckers (lil' 59, Lil Demon, JB Jr, Hot Rails). It's for an alder Strat, rosewood board, vintage trem, for metal. The other pickups are Lace Sensors (Blue in the neck, Silver in the middle).

1 meg pot for a BBQ. Does it help the darkness?
I just installed a BBQ and it sounds great but is a little dark. Torres engineering says to use a 1 meg pot. Has anyone tried this and if so how does it change the pickups character? brighter/shrill, etc. I dont want to loose the unoffending highs, just not as dark.

SG is neck heavy? Why didn't Gibson....
I think the SG is neck heavy. For me, all an SG does is slowly tilt its pegs to the center of the earth, time after time.

What magnet do these stock Fender pickups use.
Good day fellow guitarists. I was wondering if any of you might know what kind of magnets my american strat single coils use. They are fenders tex/mex single coils. It came stock with a humbucker that is not all that called a diamondback, and this sounds like it uses alnico 2 magnets. I suspect the tex/mex use the same magnets, but I'm not sure and I could find no specs or anything else on them at the fender web site. any knowledge on this guys. Thanks a bunch!!! I will be replacing the cruddy humbucker soon not sure with what but that is another post.

Strat single coil reccomendation??
I got a $50 gift certificate, i was figuring i'd buy a pickup. I wanna get a new neck pickup for my squier strat (s-s-h), and i already have a duckbucker (bridge model, for increased ouptut), in the middle. I really wanna get something like a classic jimi tone like little wing, or something like SRVs cleaner variations like lenny or riviera paradise... however, i tend to dislike the sound of the duckbucker... it doesn't seem like it has any lows. I've tried messing around with its placement, but it never seems to help all that much. Now, given all that, does anyone have any suggestions at all?? Any help is greatly appreciated, as i'm not too knowledgable about single coils.
the ssl1 vintage staggered is a great choice for that

Swap an SG Standard for Epi Elitist LP?
I've had a Gibby SG Standard for about 4 mos. and I just can't seem to get a fat, rich warm tone out of it. Plus, the cleans stink on it. I am of the mind that an LP is going to give me those tones I want and offer some decent cleans as well. So I noticed that AMS is having a sale on Epi Elitist LP's for $799.
What I'm thinking of doing is selling the SG for about $900-$950 and then going with the Epi. You think this is a good swap or are the Gibson's a much higher quality than the Epi Elitists?

Vox Valvetronix 120w head?
I'm looking at buying a new amp sometime in the next year, and I've been looking at Mesa, Marshall, Fender, Soldano, Crate, and Laney. Most are all about $1,000 for just the head, with the exception of Crate, being around $600. I had just discovered the Valvetonrix head, and it seems to do the jobs that I want it to do. It would have pretty much all the sounds I'd want, for a decent price.

Guess the Year...
I was digging through some old photos and found these gems. This is my and my brother's quot;arsenalquot; back in the day. We grew up on the rainy north Oregon coast, where nobody knew about metal, and gear was scarce (as well as money).

Duncan SSL
I purchased an SSL-2 (new) the other day on ebay. When inspecting the pickup, I noticed that the coil had slight damage. It appears that something has gouged the winding slightly (not consistent with shipping damage.)
The winding has been skewed slightly and there is some wax around the problem area. From close inspection the wires seem to be unbroken.
