Alright, I have a strat with hotrails in the bridge, I absolutely love this pickup. It's got bite, edge, insane gain, everything I want. I recently bought a Gibson Flying V, and I love everything about the guitar except the pickups. They just arent as hot as I'd like. I was wondering if I could fit two hotrails in the bridge pickup slot and wire the guitar as so: bottom position is just the bottom hotrail, middle position is both hotrails in the bridge slot, and top position is the neck pickup. I think the two hotrails going full on at the same time would be nuts and hotter than if they were in seperate slots. Is this possible?

So I pu the JB in the neck...
...and I LOVE it!!!! Its like brown sugar its dark and sweet. the mids are so smooth and the low notes just moan so sweetly and the high notes are just trebly enough but not overbearing (like my sh13 cleans). The dime in the bridge compliments it awesomely and gives it a nice mix of both worlds. I LOVE THIS PICKUP IN THE NECK. Am I the first to use this combo?

Hot Rails question...
There was one of these (supposedly) in a used Strat that I bought. It doesn't say on the top, but I gather that it just was worn off a long time ago as the pickup is very dirty and even has some rush on the blades. The pickup appears to be quite old. From webpics, the pickup looks identical to a Hot Rails (other than no label); it has the same colored wires in the right positions and what not. Anyway, I couldn't find pics of the backs of them. What does the back of a Hot Rails look like? Anyone have pics? This one has a black bar magnet on the back and has a sticker that says BP on the bar.

Which pickup to get for a heavy yet smooth sound?
I really love the guitar sound on the first few Saint Vitus albums. It's really heavy and fat, but it's not very distorted or gritty. It has kind of a smooth sound.

Lew: More JD comments.
Its funny, this post is similar to spidey's about getting some pups tweaked in. I loved my new JD/APS-1 combo when I first got it, but the quot;magicquot; wore off quick. Now I'm loving them again simply because I realized I needed to tweak my set up to make them sound right. They're my first A2 mag pups, and they have a lot more high-end than anything else I've played. I just had to make a few adjustments to maximize their qualities. The JD is bright and twangy, without being brittle or harsh, and the APS-1 has great quot;chimequot; and sparkle.
