I recently updated Office 97 to Office 2003. When Excel 2003 came up it had
my customized toolbars from my 97 version and then after about a month Excel
crashed. The toolbars that I have created come up alright, but it appears
that Excel resets the default toolbars to their default state. For example,
I added about 10 buttons to the Cut amp; Paste toolbar. When I closed Excel and
reopened it I expected to see the altered Cut amp; Paste, but it was back to the
default state.

I have unloaded amp; reloaded Office 2003 twice with the same results. The
name of the toolbar is Excel11.xlb and it is in the C:\Documents and
Settings\chucks.SCAPCA\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel path. What is
happening?

I use the same toolbars on my home computerin Excel 2002 and it works fine.
Personal.xls is fine. It has all of the macros that I have created.

You want to rebuild you toolbars and different versions of Excel.
You can get away with the same .xlb file on your
own machine transferring to newer machine or hard drive, but I
wouldn't really do it between home and work.

Take a look at
www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/barhopper.htm
to get a listing of your menus and toolbars and the macros you had.
You will have to copy the buttons to the worksheet so that you can paste
the images back to new toolbars. The format is the same as
for John Walkenbach's Menu Editor so you can use that to restore them.
You will have to modify macros to pick up your own name for the main menus
that you may have added to the menus.

You may find that you will have a new .xlb of 23KB instead of 450KB as an
added benefit.

Thank you. I think this will solve my problem.
