I normally use quot;Courier Newquot; because the characters are so easy-to-read
and they align so neatly on my monitor and on the printed page.
However, the smallest quot;Courier Newquot; font size is quot;8quot; which, in some
instances, is too large.
Is there another smaller, monospaced font-style that is as easy-to-read
as Courier New?
Hi Gary
You simply need select the cells with the text you wish to resize then
click into the font size box on your toolbar and type in the size you
want you font to be.

View this thread: www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=512968The toolbar shows the font is quot;COURIER NEWquot; and the font-size is quot;8quot;.
I know that I can click the font-size box and change the font-size to
quot;10quot;, quot;24quot;, etc.
But I want a SMALLER font-size (like quot;6quot; or quot;4quot;).
Since quot;COURIER NEWquot; doesn't offer a font-size smaller than quot;8quot;, I'm
looking for a different font-style (like Arial or Times New Romanquot;) but
the new font-style needs to be monospaced (i.e., all characters taking
up the same amount of space) with a small font-size.Don't try to choose 6 or 4. Just type it in.

Wow! That works great! Just what I was looking for.
By the way, Dave. I really appreciate your replies to my quot;Matching
Cellsquot; posting a couple of days ago - your last reply did the trick!
(You've helped me out quite a few times with problems/questions in my
other postings and I thank you for those suggestions, too). Thanks,
GaryWhy do the characters at Courier New quot;8quot; align so neatly on the screen
but smaller sizes (like quot;7quot; or quot;5quot;) are wavy-looking?Glad you got it working.

Excel can substitute fonts when things get small--either zoom or size (if I
recall correctly).
maybe this post by Debra Dalgleish will help:
You can change a registry setting to prevent this from happening (make a
backup copy of the registry first):
1. From the Start button, choose Run
2. Type regedit then click OK
3. Click the sign to the left of HKEY_CURRENT_USER
4. Open Software, Microsoft, Office, 9.0, Excel, Options
5. Choose Editgt;Newgt;DWORD Value
6. Type the name for the DWORD: FontSub
7. Press Enter to complete the renaming
8. Choose Editgt;Modify
9. Type 0 as the value, select Decimal, and click OK
10. Close the Registry Editor
=====
That 9.0 will vary with your version of excel.
