Bright Custom Custom?
I just replaced the C-5 in my Les Paul's bridge position with a Custom Custom and the tonal difference surprised me, I was expecting a creamier rounder sound but that's not what I got. I expected less low end but the low mids are very crunchy and bright, and as far as I can tell single notes in the second octave are a little rounder but not really that much quot;darkerquot; than the C-5. This whole thing has confused me as I have had a C-5 in a strat body with a Floyd and it was to bright and I had to put in a Custom Custom in it to warm it up, now with a thick mahogany body the Custom Custom is much brighter than the C-5 by a noticable margin. I realize that the maple cap may brighten things up a little but it should not make that much difference. Has anyone else had a similiar experience?

Wtb All Your Junk
Anybody have a junker strat neck lieing around that they'd like to get a couple bucks for? It has to be in playable condition, be usable on a Mexi strat (4post), must have all its frets . . . . and not have a bow in it that makes it overly unplayable.

Demon vs SDEco ?
Alnico5 and around 10-11 k , what is the difference in tone , EQ , ouput ?
I believe that with his double row of screws the Demon should be brighter , more precise as the SDeco would be thicker ?

Bridge Pup for LP, Metal/Vintage?
Hey all...
I've been getting into a little bit more metal lately such as Opeth and some other bands with similar tones. My LP is fully stock (BB Pro's). I actually don't really mind these pickups for classic rock tones and some 80's stuff. That's why I never changed them to duncans to begin with.

i can't find a good drum program
i'm looking for a drum program that you can make tool (the band) sounding drum lines. i've been trying different things but i never find anything that truly makes me happy. When i try to make something metal it always sounds like it is straight from a drum program... i know it is but i'm looking for something with a bit of a feel instead of just standard drum beats with horrid robot fills.

recording novice needs help
hi all, several buddies and myself have been jamming some originals last few months and want to make a cd. none of us have any recording experience and want to do the project ourselves. we have space availaible but have 0 yes zero experience with recording equipment. i have been bouncing round the internet looking for info and see things such as cakewalk but still the process is a mystery to me. i dont know if we can do this on a budget but we have bout 1000 bucks. is there software or software/hardware at this price range that we can with a little work get a nice cd out of that will have 2 guitars drums and a bass...i know this question is very open ended but truely i dont even know where to begin... thanks in advance.

Curious
Just wondering, do you have gigs? If so, where do you play mostly? Do you get paid? Do you play for free?

Oiling your guitar???
My friend has an old, very beat up Gibson acoustic guitar (from the 60s I think) . . . I'm not sure what model, but it's all mahogany and is a smaller body size than a traditional dreadnought . . . but anyway, like I said it's all beat up and we've been trying to fix it up. I set the truss rod, adjusted the bridge, and cleaned his fretboard. The finish on this guitar is all cracked and worn, and a lot of the wood shows through. He came up with the genius idea last night (when I wasn't around) that he should oil this guitar with like some vegetable oil. Settle a bet . . . this is a BAD idea right? Or will it do no harm to the guitar?

Crybaby Wah Mod
So I've been a sideman for this gal (great piano player) for off-and-on gigs over the past few months, and a problem cropped up with the wah.
